audijohn,

You have my full sympathy. I knew about the problems you were having with the fog lights from the Audi Forum. I don't understand the comments along the lines of "bad luck" and "perhaps it's your name." I'm a private buyer and, thanks to you and others such as RR, I put my fog lights on hold, much to the sales department's annoyance..... Not everyone has got £300 of spare cash to throw away. I can understand your frustration and I think it's a shame that such shoddy service and after sales care has ruined your experience of the car.

Are you likely to persevere with the matter or are you at the point where you're thinking of trading it in for the Audi you wanted in the first place?

Regards, Jo

This thread has got me checking the fog lights regularly and I only just realised that they are the only lights on the car made from glass. I'm sure there's a good reason, can't think what though.
I have seen somewhere details on how to repair similar lights using perspex, if you are the diy type.

I had a fog go on my old laguna. I think the only 'design' fault is it's 8" off the ground, made from glass and travels at up to 70mph

Think they should be perspex!

We will not buy another one though.

Easy use a piece of card to get the right size first, tranfer this "patern" to your final product, we have covered ours with plasitc clear film, works a treat.

CAN I SUGGEST WE ALL GIVE EM A RING ON 01753 590760 IF WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A FOG LIGHT BREAKAGE.LET EM KNOW WE ARE A FORCE. ITS NOT JUST THE ODD LIGHT BEING BROKEN.

There has to be a design fault - but Honda refuse to accept that.

I have spoken with the local dealership in Chippenham who suggest we all contact Honda - The more complaints they get the more they might listen.

I will be doing this.

I know there is lot of people wanting to obtain fog light covers, but to me it is clear that is not the problem. I will sort out some covers purely for the reason that the lights are so expensive, but I now realise that mine broke of its own accord, not due to being hit.

Sorry i just got to ask a newbie question. People who are paying £200-300 for repairs of the fog lights. Where are u getting them repaired. Dont Honda repair your car even if u have to pay ? Surely they would notice when repairing right ? Or is it something else that your paying for that im not aware of ?

i ordered front fogs when i ordered the car in august 06 for an october delivery (actually collected the car end of october)
the main dealer fitted them & i have not had any problems with them , i have covered about 2200 miles mainly to work & round town , but i do have to drive over some harsh road bumps
i wonder if because they were an extra that Honda have improved the quality of them
i will keep checking them on a regular basis though

Interesting point shrimpman. The majority of fogs on the Sport were probably fitted as a Honda UK sweetener - but this was done by the dealer not the factory. I remember 2 dealers 'complaining' as they didn't get paid by Honda for fitting them!

Could be a different fitment if they were part of an accessory pack?

don't want to tempt fate - I must make those covers soon!

I feel I must make this comment:
When ordering an SE model, they come fitted with FRONT FOG lamps, the dealerships do not have too fit them. Mine came fitted from the factory, when they broke, the dealership fitted new ones and, we have had NO trouble since.
My conclusion is: the factory fitted them up against the bodywork in PRODUCTION,therefore vibration (going over speed bumps ect) broke them.

I discovered that one of the foglights on my car is broken. The glass was more or less completly gone, so I dont know how it happend. I live in Norway, so there is no problem with heat and I have not used the lights either, since its more or less illegal to use them.
Have anyone got new ones for free from the dealer? I'll drive by the Honda dealer later and ask if they have had a lot of broken lamps here too.

Good forum by the way

Tomas72,
See Audijohn's previous post. May I suggest before going to the dealers that you check to see if the light is mounted tightly in the bumper. I believe it should be mounted very softly so that it is free to move around.
