Lights FAQ
The Civ manual is incorrect when it comes to bulb types:.
On cars without HID, it's H1 for the main beam, and H7 for dipped. On cars with HID dipped beam, it's H1 for the main beam. I am probably being really stupid, but I am thinking about getting diesel sport which comes with HID.
Why, according to the list above, is the HID only on dip - does HID not do full beam also? |

No main beam is a normal Halogen bulb as they light up quicker so work better for flashing. On main you have the dip on as well so main just adds to the light out put ans extends the range.

No it isn't. There are two types of HID-headlamps: one were only the dipped beam is HID, main beam and flashing is halogen. The other has one HID-lamp for both dipped and main. I think in this type the voltage to the lamp makes the difference between dipped en main. With this type there are two possibilities for flashing: some cars have to flash with the same HID-lamp, other have an extra halogen lamp for flashing.

Craig I found the same, some of the sites are a bit off when it comes to bulb fitments, I believe some civics do use the other fittings? according to the other philips fitting guide from the site below (hopefully that is correct!). Sorry if I'm wrong
If you go to http://www.autobulbsonline.co.uk then just keep in scrolling down (like your looking for the end of the earth, you will then find a link at the bottom to the Philips bulb fitment guide), not sure why it's hidden down there. |
