New vs Old

Tools used

1 x Star nose screw driver
1 x Needle nose pliers

Time taken

Approx 45 minutes

Level of difficulty

3/10

I followed the instructions i found on various websites and chose what i expected to be the easiest

As always, always work carefully, i jacked the car up and used jack stands to secure the front of the vehicle in the air. I also put bricks in front of and behind the rear wheels to avoid the vehicle rolling back or forward

Left side

Turn the wheels all the way to the right

Image

when you look under the front left of the vehicle you will see that there is a push clip, and a screw.

Pull the centre of the push clip out and remove

Image

Remove the screw
pull the arch beading off carefully by pulling the three clips(behind the arch cover) sharply, but gently.
You now have access to the rear of the bumper/fog lamp if you pull the fender lining back

Image

You can now unclip the wires(push the centre of the clip just above the wires and pull down)

Image

twist the bulb housing counter-clockwise and pull out the old bulb

Image

insert the new bulb and replace the plug and all the body work, push the clip back into the holes(lining up the two layers of beading nicely) and then replace the screw(the screw locks into a metal clip on the top layer)

Right side

After tackling the left side i figured i would do exactly the same on the right, boy was i wrong, after removing all the screws and clips as per the left side, i found that the windscreen washer bottle was in the way.

Image

The right, however, is far easier to change, on the underside, there is a second screw that once removed, allows you to pull a piece of the undertray clear, allowing you to reach in and unclip the cable, then remove the bulb the same way you did on the passenger side.

you can save yourself alot of trouble by using a 10mm and extender and just undo the bolt that is holding the foglight into position.
dont think you can get to it in the diesel like this as the INTERCOOLER is in the way

Nice thanks. Been meaning to change the bulbs in mine but don't fancy taking the whole bumper off.
And I don't have the small holes in the bottom of my bumper either for some reason, don't fancy drilling them myself either :p

EDIT:

Aw, I only just read that bit. Sucks lol :(

I found this the easiest way, and if you take into account the 15 minutes i spent fiddling on the drivers side, it only took 30 mins including jacking up and down....

Not too bad,

@ Robbo51, I live in South Africa and use the lights purely for looks, there are no laws stopping us from using our fogs 24/7

We have VERY little fog

Just finished putting in my Osram Night Breakers (H11's) on the Type R.
God you'd think changing a bulb would be straight forward !! Whilst I was cutting my hand a wrists to shreds installing the drivers side all I could think about was a little Jap Honda engineer in a white coat pointing and laughing at the European (me) with large gorilla hands !
What a farce to change a bulb !
Especially the drivers side. The gap between the water bottle and the front bumper was so small I got my wrist stuck trying to turn my hand around (palm facing bumper to opposite)
I was painting the calipers at same time so I'd recommend taking wheels off just so u can see where all the panel fixtures are. Total sphere ache !!
Hope the bulbs last a good 2 years at least ha ha

P.s. Big thanks to TK. Without the above guide I think I would have just sold the Osram H11's on !!

First of all do you need take off trim of wheel arches to access inner side of wheel arch?

Also I've tried to access into fog light on right side, but there was a washer bottle, so maybe i need a better pics, how to access fog light which is behind washer bottle... because there was no use, my hand are small, but i couldn't reach it, or maybe i forgot to unscrew some bolts... Maybe i need a better pics, to see, how to access. Or maybe I should take off the wheel?

also it will work is I take off the bumper, but i dont want to :(
