Rear Light Cluster ...

Not sure if this is best in here or in Styling ...

-------------------------------------------

Has anyone changed out the pre-2009 rear lights, for the 2009+ version (the one with the longer reversing light bar etc.) ? ...

Eco display
And you would loose your fog light as on the later version it's in the unit either side of the centre section. So you would have to change all 3 bits on the tailgate.

Yeh - I was really just 'thinking out loud' - what I'm most interested in, is "de-tangoing" the indicators, which I think has been done in here ? ...

Aren't the fogs near the centre on the pre-2009 model as well ? - on only one side, of course - I like symmetry, but I guess I'd have to 'build' a bulb socket on the other side, so I've got a matching pair ...

You can switch the indicators alone, and don't do anything to the middle 3 pieces... I did this too. Looks 100% better with clear indicators!!

TBH, I never like the new look of the rear centre cluster... Those 'long' reversing slides just look wrong imo...

So, the pre-2009 and 2009+ indicators are a straight swap ? ...

Not exactly a straight swap - the locating pins for the bulb holder are slightly different for some reason. What you need to do is compare old with new and use a sharp craft knife to do a wee bit of trimming to the hole on the indicator unit, being careful not to let any of the plastic trimmings fall inside.
Its relatively easy....i done mine in 10 or 15 minutes.....just keep trying the bulb holder until you get it right.
The clear indicators make a very worthwhile improvement to the looks IMO, but dont forget to buy new chrome style bulbs.
These are the ones i bought 11 months ago.
