The xenon's on my MG ZT had a lever (like the golf) to change from left to right hand driving. Looked on the Civi xenons but can't find similar. Any one know what the dealers recommend - would it be a headlamp cover with appropriate masking as per that used for the Alfa 156?

I moved to Austria in May this year and am due to fly backnext week and retrieve my beloved Civic and bring it out here. I called my local dealer in the UK and asked him if they could change the lights over for driving in Europe whilst it was in for a service to which he replied "Can't do it - go to Halfords and get a kit". The first guy I spoke to though said that it was possible but needed to be done in the workshop. Great isn't it when two mechanics at the same garage can't agree between them. What happens if you need something major?
Has anyone any more info on the elusive "switch"? |

Have used the halfords kit several times (parents live in Brittany) follow the instructions it works ! Going Friday for 3 weeks taking our civic and our Mx5 as we have to come back on slightly different dates. Good luck finding the switch on xenons.

Stupid and arrogant
Can't believe that some people answering this thead would advise not to bother obeying the laws of the countries they visit. I wonder whether they would think the same if ploughed in to by an uninsured driver in an unregistered imported car in the UK?
Although I too found the Halfords instructions to be confusing, I fitted them to the letter and took the paper with me. I am glad I did as the car was checked for conformity by the Gendarmes at a Peage checkpoint, no problems found. |

I'm not sure about this, before I burst anyone's bubble! I thought that the L and R white switch on top of the xenon units was to adjust the aim of the beams slightly as xenon lights are sealed, self-levelling and maintenance free. I don't think that it's for converting left-to-right or vice versa. There's a thread about this elsewhere on the forum, I'm sure...
I did buy a pack of beam convertors from Halfrauds but they're still in their pack after two long trips to the continent |

The is L and R & Up and Down to "tune in" the lights with. Please correct me if I am wrong, but this is my conclusion. |

With regard to the HID headlight saga, has anyone got a straight answer? Some say converters, some say there's a switch. Even the Honda dealers don't know!! I've read on the AA website that converters are useless for HID lights anyway. Please, please, someone help. Cam I convert the lights with a quick "flick of a switch" or what? Either that or I risk the wrath of my fellow Austrian drivers!!

Fabulous!
Despite all the advancements Honda has made they can't fit a simple "switch" on the headlights like the other mainstream manufacturers. "The Power of Dreams".....dream on if you want to take your car out of the country!! I have got the Eurolite converters but their instructions are so confusing. Do I fit them to the lower left of the discharge tube (as you look at the car from the front) like the instructions say, or do I fit them to the directly right hand side of the tube as all other models with Xenons seem to suggest? Can any other Civic owners help me on this? |

It's the opposite corner to where you think they should go. I used the eurolite stickers (just the round section is required for civics) through Austria and they were fine. What I did was shine the lights up against the front of my house and covered the bits that shone to the left. This helped me understand where they should go. The instructions that come with Euro lites are pretty good so take your time and good luck!

Thanks DJM,
I looked before I left the UK and I think I know what you are saying. Did you stick the Eurolites to the lower left (off centre) of the headlights as you look at the car from the front? When I tried the same as you suggested it seemed as if this was the answer. Regards, Ecstatic |
