Type-R With Replaced Headlights + PIC

Just thought this might be helpful for anyone wishing to change the standard halogen bulbs to an after market set, pictured below is my new GT, the left headlight fitted with Phillips Blue Vision Low beams (H7), High beams (H1) and sidelights (501 I think! but they are free anyway), and the right lamp has the standard factory fit.

If you look at the light given off in a vertical line directly above & below both lamps you'll notice a blue tinge from the new one and yellowish on the right!

I am please with the overall visual effect, but i have also noticed a significant improvement in light production on the road, especially when reflecting road signs etc.

I know that my eyesight is not that good in my old age... but I do wear specs and I've studied the picture very closely and can't see the slightest difference. Maybe it will be more obvious if you see it for real.

I think I can see it, but if you hadn´t told me I would never have noticed.

Slightly off topic - but there are a lot of police cars in that garage...

you definatly need new specs! thats why i specifically said look at the light perpendicular to the lamps directly above/below and it's bloomin obvious!

Anyways like I said, it is a massive improvement in performance with more light on the tarmac and thus potentially safer.

Hopefully my thread and time helps someone out there looking to change!

Ok ok I admitted it.... I need new specs!!! If the lights were "unsafe" Honda would not fit them.

oh dear! taken out of context! No the standard headlights are not unsafe, but if there is a way to improve on safety my argument may help some people - especially those with poor eyesight

they need all the help they can get!

I would say that the headlights aren't great on the Civic, although they probably meet all the regs.
I fitted the Philips X-treme bulbs to the dipped beam on mine as I think the look of the lighting is less important than the ability to light the road, and they do make a lot of difference.

I have to say the headlights on my Civic are the worst headlights ive ever had. They hardly light up the road. Extremely Poor. Im also a bit miffed that Honda didnt give you the choice of HID on the Type S for some unknown reason.

Im gonna buy some new bulbs soon which hopefully should make a bit of difference but I shouldnt be having to just to try and make the lights at least somewhat effective.

is it me or are the HID lights on the civic c**p, the light on my old car(corolla) were way better and they were standard H7 halogen bulbs. The beam dose not seem to shine far enough and it only lights up a narror bit of the road.

The HID lights themselves are great

BUT a lot do seem to leave the factory set waaaay to low
A quick fiddle with a screwdriver (adjusters are marked and are near the top of the light units under the bonnet) does the job , but be careful not to go too far.

To original topic - nice job

I have just fitted Super White LED 501's(sidelights) Philips Extreme H7's and Philips Blue vision H1's. A lot better now.(All from eBay)
Coming from a car with Xenons the standard bulbs are way too dim and yellow for me. These make a difference. Get some

Arnt the Xenons automatic levelling? If so, you will need software to adjust, or was that just on VAG cars?

Do the Phillips X-Treme + 80% H7 bulbs produce a brillaint white light or give off a blue tinge?

Also has anyone tried Phillips Dimond Vision, these look like Bluevision but are 5000k not 4000k like the bluevision's.
