Dash lighting during the day.
I'm pretty happy with the civic but the one thing that is really annoying me at the moment is the dash lighting dimming when I turn the lights on.
Because of all the fog and mist in the mornings, I'm having to put on my headlights for driving, but when I do the dash automatically dims down, making it near impossible to read in the general brightness of the day. Is this just my car that does it or does anyone else have a problem with the lights dimming? |

What do you mean there are two settings? One for day, one for night (lights on)?
I thought there was just one. My' day' dimmer is set at max. |

yes there are settings with lights on and off , so in night driving adjust the dimmer switch to suit, thats how mine works , give it a try

I confirm, there is two setting for the dimmer : One with the lamps on (night mode) and one with the lamps off (day mode) Turn your light on and adjust the dimmer to your own satisfaction

The brightness of the red-dash lights in the Type-R is even worse. During daytime/sunny weather I would like about twice the brightness it has now.
At night it's fine at the highest level. So I actually think the dial-range is wrong. It let's me choose between 25%-100%, while I would like it to be between about 75%-200%. |

Aren't you asking for the impossible? It seems to me that you are asking the car to recognise when it is daylight, foggy, and with lights on, and then to set the dash dimmer to bright!

Doesn't actually seem that impossible. All it would require is a wee circuit with a photo electric cell which identifies when it get's dark inside and adjust the dash lighting appropriately. Whether the headlights are on or off would make little difference, as it is the brightness within the interior of the car that would be measured.
