errr....

Standard Honda Supplied Sides. Too yellow
Philips Blue. Crap (not very white at all).
4 Way LED, too "dotty" and too white (made headlight look yellow)
9 way LED (front & side) from Ultra Bright Leds and Led products at bargain prices with super fast delivery - by Ultra Leds U.K (U5019W), too dotty and too white, but work ok in my g/f's Cooper S
Ultimate II 1w Ultra Xenon from Ultra Bright Leds and Led products at bargain prices with super fast delivery - by Ultra Leds U.K (U501WHP4W), great, but too white and too directional. Bloody bright though!
Then a few more random sets...
Then finally, bought 2 sets of PIAA bulbs from Demon Tweeks....
PIAA Platinum White
PIAA Extreme White
Can't quite remember which ones I fitted now. But they're a great match for the HID lamp. Will let you know later and will post a link to the right ones.

Hi Damian. Have you checked if itīs the extreme or platinum bulbs youīve mounted? They are NOT LED:s, right?

Anyone tried to change the H11 foglights to PIAA PIAA Light - PIAA 4000K H11 X-treme White Plus Car Light Bulbs Light bulbs PIAA light - H11 X-treme White PLUS Car Light Bulbs 55W = 100W 4000K Twin Pack Car Light Bulbs
- or the H1 http://www.xtremewhite.com/ORD-Light...91-1-1-1-1.cfm

Any difference in whiteness?

Hi LFN,

No, they're not LED's. LED bulbs are too white and make the HID's look yellow. I just checked (this very moment) and I mounted the Xtreme bulbs. I think the Platinums looked yellow next to the HID's..... The Xtreme's aren't ultra bright, but the colour match is better than all the others that I tried.

As for the other bulbs, I can't comment.... PIAA bulbs are very expensive and don't last very long (I know from experience), I think that the quality and range of other manufacturers has been proven to be much better than PIAA when it comes to main/full beam headlight bulbs.

Osram Nightbreakers are good, but Philips X-Treme power were proven to be the best on the market by Auto Express Magazine's tests. I'd choose these over PIAA every time (apart from the side lights!)

Hi again. I have bought theese sidelightbulbs from PIAA: PIAA Corporation USA - Wedge Bulb Xtreme White Plus and the white color is just like the xenons (HID) - BUT the light is incredible weak!

I had the Philips Blue Visions before, they were more yellowish but the lightning was much more stronger. With the PIAA:s Xtreme White itīs impossible to see the lights in daytime!

I also bought (but not yet mounted) the H11:s foglightbulbs: PIAA Corporation USA - H11 Xtreme White Plus and Iīm worried that the power of the bulbs is as weak as the sideligth bulbs.

Maybe I will return them for LED:s H11 PIAA OFFICIAL SITE and the LED sidelights PIAA OFFICIAL SITE

Anyone tried the LED:s from PIAA? Any suggestions?

I rememberd that someone here on the forum was saying that the whitetone on the 501 Super Bright Light was not like the xenons at all. But it was in another thread. Is the LED lights power more visible than the original sidelight?

Hi LFN,

Sorry to hear that you don't like the PIAA bulbs. Sure, they're not as bright as other brands, but the colour is as close a match for the HID's as I've been able to find. I notice that you're located in Sweden.... Do you require that the sidelights are switched on during the daytime to act as running lights? It's not the case here in the UK. Sidelights should never be used independently of the headlight whilst driving, so if it's dark, we switch them on, and if it's light, we switch them off!

It bugs me when I see people driving with just their sidelights on, they think that because it's a little bit dark, then they need a little bit of light to be visible. Muppets!

If anybody is interested in really bright LED bulbs, you might want to look here.....

Ultra Bright Leds and Led products at bargain prices with super fast delivery - by Ultra Leds U.K

I bought these but thought they were too white and too bright...

The Ultimate II 501/T10/194 1 x 1 Watt Ultra Xenon White by Ultra Leds U.K

Am just going to buy some of these...... because they look interesing!

The sidelights here in Sweden is automatically switched on, and is remaining ON whatever position you have on the switch! I think itīs a law on this in Sweden.

autobulbsdirect will post to you in Sweden and note that the 501 Super Bright White Leds are only 1watt, even though the brightness is vastly superior to a standard bulb.

I would recommend them.

I've just ordered a set up upgraded 6000k HID bulbs from Autobulbsdirect. If we can't find sidelights to match the HID's, then let's see if we can find HID's to match LED sidelights!

Seems very odd, the Philips Blue Vision bulbs is rated at 4000K and they have a very yellow tone compared to the original HID:s. No chance that the Type R has another colour temperature on the HID:s?
Blue Vision link: a u t o l a m p s - o n l i n e

There is a Diamond Vision from Philips rated at 5000K. Maybe more like the original HID:s.

LFN, 4000k is more yellow than 4300k. 6000k is more blueish white.

The bulbs have arrived (the HID's from Autobulbs and the LED's from Ultraleds), now I'm just wondering about the big warning sticker on the back of the HID that says "do not remove this cover, risk of electrocution 20,000 volts!"

If anyone can give me a bit of informed moral support, I'll crack on with changing them sometime today if the weather holds up!

Unfortunately when putting halogen against true xenon you will see a colour difference even if the colour temp is supposed to be the same. This is due to them both being different lighting technologies.

With halogen bulbs a blue coating is put over the bulb to create a different colour to the light output where as Xenon bulbs use and arc of light. The arc vaporises the metal halide which produces light as the temperature and pressure increases. The light produced by an HID Xenon lighting system is greater than a standard halogen bulb and with less power consumption. On the road, HID Xenon lighting systems appear as a bright white beam which resembles natural daylight.

As long as the engine is off and has been allowed too cool for about half an hour you will have no problem changing the bulbs. The warning is just to alarm you and make you go back to the dealer where they will charge you a stupid amount to just change a bulb. Hope this helps
