Yellow main beam, white HID's

I've been doin' some night time driving lately, and it is really obvious to me that the main beam colour is very yellow compared to the whiteness of the HID's..

Does anyone have a solution to this (replacement bulbs and the like) or is it somthing I'll have to get used to?

LJ

If you are going to spend money upgrading your main beam bulbs, it might be an idea to think whether you want better vision on the main beam or you want the white look.
If you want a whiter look then go with Pottsy suggestion, although these bulbs are still a way from matching the colour temp of the HID.
If you want better vision on the main beam, with a slightly less yellow look go for the Philips Vision Plus 50% bulbs. They give a huge amount of very usable light to making driving at night a lot safer.

The only way of matching the dipped beam is to fit an aftermarket HID kit. But these are possibly illegal and could invalidate your insurance.

I went for the +50% Philips bulbs as well. As Foggy69 says, they do give a much better light output.

I took the decision of going for more light rather than a bluer/whiter light - function over aesthetics! The +50% bulbs are still whiter than the standard halogen bulbs, but nowhere near as white as the Xenons.

You can fit HID lamps for the main beam without worring about legality as only the dipped beam has to conform to beam pattern and alignment tests. Essentially the full beam design is an 'everything you've got approach' - with not too much regard for where that light goes. A good example are long range driving lights on a 4x4, which are pefectly legal so long as they don't come on with the dipped headlights.

sorry to sound stupid in this post.

There are 3 levels of lightning from the front lights. What are their names? Dipped/main/full etc...

On the EX, which ones are Xenon and which ones are not?

Which are the ones people are replacing?

Sidelights, dipped (often called driving lights), and main (sometimes referred to as hi-beams).
It's the main/hi-beams (blue indicator on dash) that's being discussed here.

You can fit those - but... with HID's you cannot flash someone, and when you need to turn them off/on all the time, it is bad for their lifespan + it takes some time when you turn them on to light road properly.

They are fine for flashing, and they throw out a good amount of light.
