With (BMW) Xenons (I added them to mine), I asked and was informed that legally if the Xenon kit is fitted aftermarket it does not (so I have been told by a cop also) legally have to have washers fitted. If it is fitted from Standard then washers must be fitted, daft right, but.... my cars been through 2 MOT's with them fitted and been looked at by a traffic cop (who I happened to get chatting too) with absolutely no one saying a word, probably because mine are kept spotless, and are properly set. If they blind people then it's silly.
To automatically level the beam out when a large weight is being transported sensors are placed above the suspension system whic measure gradient and adjust as necessary (this where the work serously comes in for fitting aftermarket gear) I have been told this is why the type S can't have them, there is no room for the sensors. Quite possibly outside the UK there is no legal requirment for the "auto-dipper", I was upset too as I like the Xenons.

Now I have already installed the aftermarked HID (Xenon) kit on my Civic. I must say that I am very happy that I installed it. It gives me more security in driving (especialy in fog/rain/night) and it absolutely doesn't blend the upcoming traffic because I have positioned them so that they light up the road and not the air as many freaks do. And it doesn't look absolutely like original. I have seen for example many guys in VW Golf 5 with HID kits and it looks terrible and blinds very well. Now i am looking for parking lights that would shine white and at least nearly the original ones. I have looked at the test in this forum, but because of these lights I would quickly get stopped by the police for inspections. They look more like aftermarked but are true legal (E sign). In my Country (Slovenia) it is by law neccessary to have auto adjustment for the lights and headlight washers.
In Slovenia the Civic (benzin and Diesel) Executive and Type R have already Xenons installed but they cost more than in other EU countries. Executive Diesel - 31000EUR, Type R (uncomfortable) - about 25000EUR, Type R (comfortable) - 30000EUR. |
