Auto Dim Day/Night mode on Dash and Display Screen

Hi,

I've been trying to figure out why my auto dim hasn't been working for a week now but I've just solved the problem so I thought I'd share.

Basically whilst playing and searching through the menus I found an option for Auto Day/Night switching or Auto Dim when Headlights are on or when night falls. 'Fantastic' I thought, just like my TomTom did so I wasn't blinded when driving at night or didn't have to change the mode manually every time night fell. However I never seemed to be able to get the system to auto dim/switch, so ended up resorting to pressing the day/night button on the console.

But tonight, I have solved the problem.

The brightness dial on the dash needs to be turned all the way (100%) to the right (full) then clicked back just one click. This will keep full brightness during the day and with lights off, but will also enable the Auto Dim to kick in. This will also work in any brightness level other than max.

I think the max setting overrides the system and keeps brightness at full regardless of any auto dim settings.

Hope this proves useful for people.

The daylight and dimmed dash brightness is adjusted separately, and the car remenbers the setting.

I think we've been here before a while back.

Turn the dash brightness to 100% and the SatNav will also use the daytime brightness whether you have your lights on or not.
Turn the dash brightness down just one notch and the SatNav will auto dim when the lights come on (if you have set the SatNav to auto dim seperately.
