OSRAM Nightbreaker
Has anyone tryed the Osram Nightbreaker for the full beams? Seeing as Phillips dont do the 80% jobies in H1 i was looking for another ultra high power bulb. I was wondering if they are 90% better as Osram claim (im not sure how they work out the % figures!)

I know that, my point being what are they 90% better than? If it was a candle then they still wouldn't be great! Extreme example but you get my point, Philips and Osram might use different starting points.

In anticipation
I have had 'xx%' better bulbs before and been sorely disappointed
- I look forward to hearing the review. Be good if people can identify suppliers and prices as as these bulbs are not cheap (over £30 a pair) |

I use +50% H7 bulbs by GE
on the Autoexpress test they weren't the best but the difference compared to a normal bulb is still noticable! price is also a step cheaper than philips and osram...a good value for the money |

I currently have Philips extreme 80% for my dips, i have another pair as my old car used h7 for both full and dipped. The dips alone have made a difference to the civic so i thought it was prob worth while doing the whole lot. Im not necessaryily after the xenon look but the whiter the better, ultimately im after performance rather then style especially for the full as no1 see's them except you!
That does mean i have another pair of extremes with only a couple of months use on them if anyones interested? |

It seems sad to me that people feel compelled to upgrade the lights on their car's because they think that the lighting is inadequate.
Surely, the car companies should be taking note of this and doing something to improve it. Why should you have to buy a top-end model just to get decent visibility? |

More and more Xenon lights are becoming available (not enough yet). So....call me SAD. I will always upgrade if I believe the car warrants it. In this case IT DOES. I use Philips Extreme and its transformed the visibility. Why not give it it a try? You wont feel sad.......Honest!!! |

No, I never said that YOU are sad. You misunderstood what I meant. I mean that we should not be put in the position where we have to make something as important as this to have to make it better. I fully agree that if something can be made better, it should. If I didn't have the EX with HID's I'm sure that I would upgrade too. |

Well their fitted, initial impressions are good, whiter and brighter than the originals. I got a free set of blue side bulbs which are a big improvement on the standards! I haven't been out in the dark without street lights yet so ill have to see how much of an improvement.
Is it just me or is the manual really complicated for changing bulbs, i didnt have to dismantle anything to get at mine! |

The key comparison should be with 100watt main bulbs. Illegal they may be but if they are claiming 80% improvement then they should be of simlar performance.
I doubt the will be - curious what they use as the baseline reference. As already requested - photos of a side by side comparison would help |

Has anyone had any problems with the life of uprated bulbs? I bought Vision plus bulbs for my last car and one failed within a year.
If the bulbs burn at higher temperatures is there a risk that life expectancy is reduced ? It probably depends on how well they have been designed. |

Variable life expectancy
I have found that the cheap 'unbranded' uprated bulbs do not have a good life, sometimes less than 6 months.
The well known brands e.g. Philips, Osram, seem to have a good life. I can't remember the last time I had to replace them - must be over 2 years ago (I am a high mileage user as well) Currently using Osram bulbs which I am more than happy with. The problem is there are so many variables: suspension, tyre pressures, roads, speeds, mileage and even the load in the car. |

Just found these....
Lidl Online Set of 2 for £2.99, H7+50%. As has been said earlier, +50% over what? I'll probably get a pair to try.....at that price they become disposable items! Lidl are a Germany company.....maybe they are ubranded Bosch? I live in hope! Terry. |

(should have added before using better makes I used some unbranded upgrade bulbs and they created a lot of glare |
