just remove the 4 screws holding the centre console, this gives access to the cig lighter,2 wires white(live) black (neg) then just remove the gear shift surrond so you can pass the wire to the centre pocket . I just ran the wire along the hinge of the pocket, its so fine you dont see it as I could not find a way to get at the pocket from the back ,(with out removing glove box) with the lid closed you dont see.No resistors needed and yes the glove box light stays on with the door closed ...Hope this helps

No resistors? So you directly connect al LED to 12-14.4 volts? That won't last for long...
I suggest you add a series resistor, depending om the LED type. I guess the value should be between 720 ohms and 1.2k.

Hi gers, are the 4 screws holding the centre console visible and how is the gear surround removed? I wish there was a haynes manual available!

I suggest you fit a 1kohm resister to your led otherwise it will burn out quickly. They're only like 7p or something from Maplins. That what I use when I make up my own LED's.

Thanks Naresh, I will get one of those from maplins this week, where excatly does it fit, I assume its just in line on the live wire.......... If you slide the 2 front seats right back you will see at each side of the console (1 each side, low down) a small round cover which just pops off using a thin screwdriver to reveal the screws, there are also 2 at the back . The gear surround will prise out again using a thin screwdriver (cover the screwdriver with a cloth as the surround will scratch easily).

Thanks mate, yes the resister just solders onto the positive leg of the LED (longer side), then just cover it up with heat shrink, use a lump of plasticine or blue-tak to hold the led while you solder the resister on, because its a very fiddly job!!
