Centre Pocket LED Light.

Hi Guys. Was messing about today with an LED light i had, and decided to wire it up to illuminate the console centre pocket,I think it looks pretty cool, with the lid closed it gives a really nice effect, just a thin blue line of light across the top of the silver trim, (I put a 3mm thick piece of rubber on to the bit thats already there just to keep the lid open slightly more for a better effect) , or you can keep the lid open, still looks good and it throws light on to the gear stick and the drinkie bit. I would be interested to hear what you think, Ive uploaded some pics, the qualitys not great but its gives you the idea...Cheers, Gers

Good job gers, it does look neat.
Did you wire it up to the glove box light , so it goes off with the main lights. ?

Not bad at all, most of such things are "village tuning" but this really looks nice and fits the car also. I think that given the low power consumption of a LED one could leave it without a switch. My only problem: I'm using this compartment as a trash bin so maybe should better leave it dark

I was really suprised at how well it does look, it fits in very well with the rest of the lighting (lid closed), but Yeah, you would have to keep it tidy .The ones i used were the Door handle lights from Maplin or (Halfords) they give off a nice soft glow , and yeah you can get them in Type R red

Very nice - it looks like the blue lagoon!

It would be even better if you could wire it into the dash lighting circuit, so it only come on with the lights, and can be dimmed with the rest of the dash lights etc.

Nice touch!
It kinda looks like a wormhole that can take you a few galaxies further in a wink. Put your hand in, and off you go...
In other words: the perfect upgrade to our spaceship!

robbo, shut up you old git

or just fit one and impress your daughter

ok - that probably won't actually work if your daughter is anything like mine
I remember the days when simply fixing the brakes on her bike was enough to impress...

I'll shut up now

nice light

A report stated that the AVERAGE age of Civic buyers went down 10 years to 41 years old with the new model!!

But that is still an average of MIDDLE AGED! which means that for every 21 year old driving a Civic there is a 61 year old driving one as well!!!

(In my case it's balanced out by a 30 year old!)

Cheeky young whippersnapper! In my day we had respect for our elders... we fought a war for you you know... mumble mumble... where did I put me glasses... grump grump... bl**dy kids... I don't know what the world is coming to...

A few years ago I owned a previous model Civic my anal female cousin remarked that they were for old people. Sensitive soul that I am I rather took that to heart and bought an Accord. Now drive the current model 2.2 diesel and it makes this 58 year old feel young again. B.....ks to what my cousin may say when I tell her I've bought another Civic. Might take her out for a spin but tell her to wear brown trousers! This has gone off topic, apologies.

I thought about this mod only just last week and also thought it would generate a nice blue outline to the compartment. Can I ask how you fitted the LED - what trim needs to be removed and did you mount it at the back of the compartment or the top?

I want to wire it up so its on at night with the lights - can anyone tell me if the glovebox light only comes on when its opened? If so I'll have to wire straight to the fusebox, unless there is a lights-on activated live feed to tge glovebox feed.

Also did you need a resister on the LED or can I do without? I ask because my TT voltage can spike to over 14V so I fitted resisters on the LED's I fitted in the footwells.

Good job!
