They ripped the guts out of it a few years ago, it looks like a Harvester type place now. Real shame.

For those of you who watched Inspector Morse, I am led to believe that the Trout is where all the external pub shots were shot, where Morse usd to drink.

I think your right about Morse. It's a shame that they have changed the place, I spent many an happy hour sat inside and out enjoying the odd Ale. Why is that all the nice old country pubs are getting taken over and then being changed into some corporate rubbish.

A few years ago, you had lots of breweries running their own pubs, but now you've only got a handful running the whole

show. They want them all to look the same. In the vast majority of cases, the character and individuality has gone.

Oh, don't get me started on the demise of the (real) english pub.....

Luckily my local is privately owned and of the old-fashioned variety..

So, any major complaints before we start a new thread?

Trout Inn, Oxford, lunchtime, Sun 17th Sept, look for MCH with a feather protruding.

I've just done a route planner to Wolvercote.

Are we talking centre of Oxford now ?. Is there a decent sized carpark at the pub ?.

I want to say yes, but its not. That would be funny.

The multimap link to Wolvercote thanks to TinyURL.com is

http://tinyurl.com/g5wcq

I am also trying to post a map I have written all over, but the add attachment button is missing, and when I add image to post it redirects back to the main Civinfo page after uploading, whats occuring???

Try this link

http://members.lycos.co.uk/troutinn/info.htm

On the last right hand corner before you get to the Trout there is a car park, I think signposted to Recycling Centre, its a reasonable size and might be a good place to meet, although its only 200yds up the road or we could meet at the Trout. The pub is on the left the car park on the right of the road.

Even easier if you use Firefox, go to the bottom of this page: http://mozmonkey.com/

Download/install the TinyURLCreator extension, you then just right-click on ANY webpage you happen to want to share and choose TinyURL and it does it all for you and copies it automatically to your clipboard ready to paste where you want

Exit M40 Jct 9, south on A34, follow signs for Oxford. The turning of the A34 is signposted Services, there is a Holiday Inn and a Travelodge (PearTree Services) also signed for Park & Ride. 2nd exit at the Roundabout (1st is in to services), through Traffic lights ( P & R on left), CAUTION Traffic Light Camera. Next roundabout BMW dealer and BP garage on right, you want the 4th exit, signed Wolvercote, its the one before the the A40. Down the hill Oxford 4 Pillars Hotel (I thin, deffo Hotel) on right. Traffic lights over weak bridge, keep going, down onther side of bridge into Wolvercote. As you get into village there is a sharp left turn with a pub in front of you, ignore it. Playground on left. Then sharp right turn, straight on there is the recycling centre I mentioned previously. Over another bridge (narrow no traffic control). The Trout is down there on left, car park on right, decent size.

I trust that helps, if anyone wants please PM me and I will give you my mobile number.

Alternatively we could meet at Pear Tree services, or in a lay-by just off M40, about 300yds after joining A34 (normally full of trucks having illegal immigrants removed).
