Yorkshire Meet January 2008

Starting to plan the next meet.
I would like some suggestions please.
Options:
1. Venue...Pub essential
2. Location..Somewhere not too far for most so that our friends over't Yorks border can attend
3. A drive out is desireable
4. A Saturday is best?? or a Sunday (not best for me tbh)
5. The Malthouse is tried and tested...Go there again
6. Ideas also invited as to how to get more to come along!!
7. ??

1. Agreed, Pub lunch at some point would be essential

2. I'm very felexible with this one, the Malt House a good starting point, maybe cross the border over to Lancashire and clip the top of Derbyshire (Glossop area) would be some excellent driving roads on that sort of route.
Could have maybe 3 photo stops along the way so others that may have not been able to make the start time could join in. Maybe Yorkshirestoke or Veritas have some ideas for routes?

3. See 2, It worked very well on that last meet despite the traffic, really turned some heads!

4. I'm easy, whichever most people can make.

5. See 2

6. Plan a cracking day out, and a good drive covering 3 counties. Who the hell can resist that

It' would be great to see how much interest there is in something like the above.

Maybe weekend maybe first or second week of Jan?

Thoughts please

Had one thought, maybe not for the next meet, but how about a trip taking in South Manchester/ Cheshire this was the area covered on Sara Joe's meet at Jodrell Bank and we got a few people to attend that one !
Route to be planned of course, can I throw it into the pot to be considered

No probs. Good suggestion. We could meet at the Turnpike , then go in convoy if you live this side. Probably one for the spring though!!

Think we should also think of an area which would bring Leeds into play, ending up maybe in Harrogate or Knaresborough ?

Robbo, I love your style, first thing out of your computer after the meet suggestion - a pub name!! Brilliant, a man after my own heart!

If we could end up in the Knaresborough area we could sample a drop or two of Timothy Taylor!

Alright alright so I'm a little bit of a noob here, but you can count me in.

As for routes etc. I don't mind. I'm always up for some pub grub though.

Isn't there a pub/restuarant/hotel somewhere Grassington way, could be an option.

If you end up that way will almost definately have to come along, I need to show my wife one of the most beautiful parts of the country, maybe March/April is better, let the fog lift. My father ran a transport company from a quarry just outside Skipton, he'd worked there nearly 3 months before he realised what an amazing view he had from his office window, was either foggy or raining most of January & February.

There used to be a bakery in Skipton by the canal, did the best meatpies, anyone know if its still there?

How about we organise a Yorkshire meet in Jan at the Malthouse and try to attract as many folk as possible. That way they can come along and see what we are all about, have a bite to eat and then do a run out. We could do a similar run to the last one but without the traffic The weather will be Sh** in Jan, the cars will look cr**. Lets leave the distance run to Cheshire or N Yorks until the weather gets better in March.

Lets use the Jan meet to try and attract some more members.

Any thoughts?
