In other news hoping to get my FD2 TB and RRC in the next couple of weeks. Bonus ,it's apparently already painted black

Hope I don't get let down as I preemptively sold my "spare"

Cheers, just my insurance holding me back now. Don't want to cancel a 7 month policy so will be a Xmas present to myself hopefully.

Can't wait for those cams, hoping for 240, be chuffed with 250bhp but for me it's all about that torque

10 minutes and a toothbrush later and the off-throttle jerk and kangarooing have now gone

Caked in blowback so will have a look at the PCV valve next week.

Inexperienced and had my car in bits but doesn't compare to how nervous I am for tomorrow when I will attempt to sort out this naff paintwork. Give me a socket set over a polisher any day!

Bricking it as I can imagine turning it on and going straight down to metal xD

You'll be fine
Did you remove the tb to clean it or just take off the intake pipe?

I'm a practical guy, give me something to strip and rebuild
Give me something to prep and paint though......

I just removed the intake, switched the fuel off and got my mate to press the pedal down and gave it a good clean. Low level response is now spot on (low rev driving was jerky and blipping the throttle was hesitant).

Didn't go deep as I'll be swapping TB along with RRC mani when / if they turn up

Oh and ordered the PCV valve from the US

good luck with the polishing mate. I have done my by hand thus far for the exact reason you described .... I have a polisher, but not having done it before I dread the mess I could make
Just a thought, are you able to practice on your other half's car? I think I might try that this weekend before I have a go on mine!

My bonnet is a darker shade of red, guessing it had a carbon one or wrap in it's past life so will practice on that first as it needs respraying anyway

Gave it a bash but the pad and polish are too soft to get rid of the deeper marks so it's been postponed until the heavier duty stuff arrives.

Also got online quotes for FD2 TB and intake manifold from 9 breakers today ranging from £68 to £298, every... and I mean every breaker quoted me for FN2 parts even after I confirmed that it's the Japanese import one.....

Got one left not answering his phone (£298 one) so fingers crossed as that's the price it should be!

Rang a few places in Manchester and one place just got one in and one of the lads working there nicked them for himself He did give me a phone number for a place that imports them dirt cheap so there's hope yet!

I keep wondering if you'd get similar gains if you taper bored the oem t/b out to suit the rrc port

Looks like you'd need to take a fair bit off and the attach a new housing / butterfly valve etc

There's 3mm difference between the fn2 at 65mm and the fd2 at 68mm, if you were to taper the manifold side out to 68mm to smooth the flow transition out I'm wondering if there would be much difference. (Only an idea)

True but the butterfly will still be the bottleneck. FN2 is 65mm and FD2 67mm iirc

I was looking the same route along with boring the RSP as I can get both from a breakers for less than £100 but wasn't worth it. A bored RSP would make nice mid range gains but gets tired up top (there were a couple of dyno tests on K20 forum) saved me the effort

Yeah the rrc is the daddy, I had the skunk2 originally but wasn't impressed with the quality and the runner diameters were small compared to the rrc and very very poorly finished.

Was looking at the skunk2 originally but seems to be based off the RBC so will be sticking the RRC route

Good choice here's how craper quality the junk2 is Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.

There's corrosion pitting, paint missing and burrs in the coolant pipe fitting. Wasn't impressed for a £450 part
