Hi,
Not that my car stinks to high heaven, but is there a product out there that cleans the car and leaves a nice new car smell?
I have in the past tried many products but they all smell like exactly what they are (like Mr Sheen) and normally short lived.

Bomb

No theres definately something called a 'bomb' which you can put in an old car, close doors and windows and it diffuses all old smells and ingrains a new car smell into the fabric.
Ive heard my regular dealer talk about it in the past. Not sure where u get them though or how it works.

The dealer would say all that, he wants to sell it to you!

There are such things but they're mostly used flush the air con system out as they can go a bit stale. I would give the carpets and all fabric a scrubbing with some APC and then a wet vac to lift as much dirt and rubbish out. Then think about a new smell, I like cherry california air scent personally, looking at some stripper scent though :D

I've definitely read about a USA product called "New Car Smell" (or something like that) a few years ago - but - as previously mentioned, you need a really thorough (valet \ professional ?) internal cleaning first ...

How about that?

'California scents' available on good old ebay have an air freshener called 'New Car' which smells great although not quite ready to replace my bubblegum version as yet.

Try ozoning the interior - there are special ozonators which kills all smells from your car - this may help in rising the natural smell of fabrics and plastics.

I gave my last one away to my sister, thinking about ordering more some time soon. Just gonna get a box of cherry as that's always everyones favourite. Peach is also quite nice though. I like to treat the plastics with poorboys natural look dressing, which smells like bubble gum!

The best way to get back the original new car smell is, offcourse, to clean all the fibres, because that's where the smell is comming from. Think of all the mudd, hair, skin particles, sneeze residue, dog poo,.. that got collected over the years. Anything other than that, is just masking. I've heard of companies who are specialized in this "deep cleaning", but I don't know any names.

If you have a car with bad smells or really want to get rid of them, then I sggest this little beauty:

CarPro Cleanair

I did an interior detail for a friend who'd bought a car through auction and it smelt of tobacco - very stale. Gave the interior a proper detail including wet extraction and steam clean of most areas but then sprayed on the CleanAir (little goes a long way) onto all the surfaces and left in direct sunlight for a few hours.

Came back and all that was left is a pleasant 'pine' scent and there has been no return since of the previous odours. Top stuff!
