Dog waggon needed!

So theres no way my two mutts are going in my fn2 so I need a cheap estate to cart them around in, very very cheap!

Requirements:

Sub £1500
Diesel
Huge boot for tools/crap

Theres a few vectras with the 1.9 cdti 150 engine on autotrader, but I've never had a good vauxhall. Passats are a little expensive, Mondeo is another possibility.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I know what you mean about VX's, how about a Volvo? They tend to be better built than most, are comfy and fairly well spec'd. Plenty around too so cheap(ish).

Thanks.

Mention estate and most will think of the big Swede!

Volvo's seem capable of big mileages too.

Some fast models kicking around too, if that helps swing your choice

How about a Combi van, or a good old fashioned escort van, they go forever

Rav 4 seems a little barbie and ken to me

I already have a vivaro van which I use for carting the dogs in, the problem with vans is the insurance is ridiculous compared to cars, plus no one else can drive it on their car insurance.

Volvo seems a good choice though, off to autotrader!

Any VAG estate or saloon with the 1.9tdi engine.

Loads of choice if you're happy with a Skoda Octavia?

Searching Autotrader and theres tons of Volvo v50's at the 200k mark, if I look at Vauxhalls/Renaults theres hardly any near that mileage so I'm assuming they are good for high miles. I do less than 5k a year so even if I buy one on 140k it should be for a while. I've also noticed Volvos generally have full service history, even when 12/13 years old, its stereotyping but I imagine the average Volvo owner to be a middle aged sensible guy, wears turtle neck jumpers and spends 1 hr a day organising the recycling bins, you know the sort!

Not yet looked at Accords or Octavias, will have a search in the morning.

Don't forget Saab estates. I've always suspected Saab drivers look after their stuff...

Volvo would be a great choice, see if you can get the V8 (great sleeper!).
Worth buying one that won't need welding every year or loads of things replaced just to get through MOT, so look for reliability and service costs, even if you won't cover too many miles.
You can also pick up things like Audi estates or Ford focus estates.
To be honest, most estates were driven by the older generations until the recent flurry of things like the rs6 and golf r estate!

I was swaying towards the volvo's but when I contacted my van insurer to cancel, I discovered i would be charged around £400 in numerous fees. So I'm going to wait until next year when the insurance runs out until I get a car.
