And here the '91 one. You can still notice some damage for repair in the left side of the car:

aaaaahhhhhh.... love this car's looks !! I realize there may be better looking cars out there, but to me, this is very unique. My first true love on wheels !

waff, those are two beauties you have there. Cherish them if you can. I already miss mine...

I-noel: hello there, fellow frenchman !

The day I ordered my CTR CW, I also ordered a miniature (1:43 scale) CRX from Minichamps, somehting to remember it by:

I just hope my 3-year old son won't set eyes on it quite yet...

hehehe
Thanks CiTRouille.
This miniature is very nice!

Yes, I try to take care of them as much as I can.
The wheels are true old school of a german brand.

I wish you enjoy your CTR a lot!

waff, do you feel a difference when you drive your two CRXes? Is one more powerful than the other? How many km for each?

Is the '88 one black? On the first picture it could almost pass for very dark blue, but it could just be the lighting? It's quite symbolic, that one is black and the other is white

I like the wheels, they suit the CRX pretty well.

Thank you!

As I told to you, both are ED9s with same engine and ecu (same specs.).
They run the same.

Yes, the '88 is black, hehehehe. It seems dark blue, but not.
The black has aprox. 130.000 Km.
The white has aprox. 70.000 Km.

Yes, it seems symbolic . But it is by chance.
Maybe in future the white will be painted yellow like the J's Racing EF8.

Well, you know, even two originally equal engines could have been broken in differently. I would say +/-3% horse power might be quite common.

I love black for a CRX by the way. When I bought mine, there was also a black one for sale by another dealer, but the guy was asking for an exorbitant price. Finally I think this particular blue really suits the car. If I recall, this blue was developed specially for the VTEC version. Of course I love white too... since I'm buying a CW ! Yellow looks flashy. I like it, but I'm not sure I would like a yellow car for everyday use.

Do you have air conditioning in any of them? I have to admit, that's the ONE thing I probably missed the most in my CRX. I can imagine that without aircon, it can get pretty hot in a CRX in Spain. France in summer is bad already

Another thing I miss (or luckily never had to miss) are airbags. ABS might have been nice (although to be honest I'm not sure I can't brake faster and better than ABS when it's slippery - it's just a matter of habit and technique). My mother and my wife complain it doesn't have power steering, but that just makes it more of a "man's car"

Yes, indeed. You are totally correct. This difference is common in same engines. I cannot say exaclty this % because I havn't dynoed them. But as feeling of power, they go the same aproximatelly.

Well, white one is going bad these days, but it is just because it needs a bit of checking (valve clearances, IACV and all intake system, gaskets, etc.). He will receive this checking very soon. I am doing a bit of building work in my work garage and I cannot repair anything at the moment.

Yes, black is something special in this car. But is typical. Your blue is atypical. I also have seen this same blue in some german EE8s. It is possible that it is a blue of vtec units.

Well, it wouldn't be only yellow. Yellow would be the main colour, with a scheme of some other colour and all the vinyls of sponsors. But it is only a possibility. I have more combinations in mind.

The black doesn't have air conditioning. I have suffered baldy in summer with him. Yes, Spain can be very hot in summer. The white has it isntalled. )

I have experienced strong brakings with them (with braking techniques included) and I think personally that it would be different with ABS. hehehehe. But it is fun slipping after some brake blocking. What it is not as funny is that sometimes the brakes of CRX aren't suficient to brake quickly.
And for other hand, due to agressive driving (and the age of the car) the discs and pads become unstable.

hehehehe, true. Like a car only for men. Anyway, There are a lot of women owning CRXs. My whity was of a woman. ^^ He was a very dangerous woman (girl with bad boy car and without power steering = crazy driver for sure xDDDD).

I've got an easy solution for you;
1. Cancel the order for the new CTR.
2. Get to local importers
3. Order 98 spec 4 door DC2 ITR
4. Problem solved!

If you don't mind my asking, do you work on cars for a living or is it just a passion, or both (which is an awesome combination)? Seeing that you have your own work garage and everything!

The ITR is one nice car indeed! Came out the same year I bought my CRX, and I actually hesitated between the two. But despite the ITR being an awesome car (I think I have yet to read a bad or even slightly bad review of it), I was never as attracted to it as I was to the CRX because of its looks. Sure, it looks nice, but in my opinion it's a little too "mainstream". The CRX, and the 8th generation Civic too, really have a unique style. I like that in my cars.

As it turns out, my cousin is indeed coming to pick it up in 3 weeks. I know he will take good care of it. He is a passionate guy about the CRX, and very importantly he will not "pimp it up". He has been looking for "the right one" for a long time. And in 10 days, I will pick up my brand new CTR. I'm very excited!

hehehe, don't worry, no problem.
I work with race motorcycles. At the same time I love japanese race cars. With years I have been building my own work garage. Then I can do all my works there, all by myself.
Yes, it is like a combination I think. I work with engines, and my passion are engines.

I feel the same. ^^

If your cousin has been looking for one nice CRX for long time, he will care of it very well. Sure.
And for you CTR, I say you: congrats for your purchase!

I just love how the CRX's have literally Bullet-Proof engines. I have a friend of mine and he has 1992 Crx VTEC and it has 234,000 Miles and it still loves the abuse he gives it!!!!!!! The engines are trully undestructable.
CiT, if u don't mind me asking how many miles has your CRX done?

225k kilometers, which is about 140k miles, and it's going as strong as ever

Also, I have never needed to add one drop of oil in between oil changes. Never. Not once!

So the CTR finally arrived (see this thread), and I picked her up last week from Germany.

What a car! I absolutely love it! She is is civilized yet wild; an absolute joy to drive. Yes, I will miss the CRX (my cousin came to pick it up and just drove away with it yesterday), but I don't think I will regret the "upgrade". Here are some pictures of both cars.

First the last wash of the CRX, before handing her over to my cousin (after 13 years of life together, it was quite a special moment):

Just heard from my cousin, who arrived safely in Sweden after the relatively long drive. He seems happy enough. I also have it from another trustworthy source (his mother) that he is now walking around with what must be a "VTEC smile" on his face, and keeps talking about the "sound of that engine"

Btw, he "upgraded" from a 1994 Peugeot 306 cabriolet. When he test drove the CRX he admitted it felt "very different".
