Honda 'bike restoration started

After mulling over the occasional 60's Honda twins selling on ebay for a while now, took the plunge and now have a 175 inclined twin sitting in the garage.

Had one of these way back when and also a couple of CB200's,so fairly clued up on them. Not into 100% originality/condition,but some things just have to be done. For example already ordered a bottom half chain guard needing abit of a refurb and respray at approx.£40.Found some Nos rear shocks, although at around £200+ they may have to go on the shopping list.

May be fitting some reverse cone megas although have a feeling the tractability of the little engine may be upset.

P.S. if anyone has any bits for these bikes lying around in the garage, would be interested to hear from.

It looks to be in remarkably well preserved condition

David silver spares are good for Honda parts - a lot cheaper than the Honda dealer. I get my vfr spares from them

looking good, here is a Honda Chaly I did last summer Honda Owner Again and TBH I love this more than the EP3 I used to own.

If you want genuine Honda parts try here as they specialise in vintage bikes Honda Motorcycle Parts, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha Motorcycle Parts - ATV, Classic Bike, Dirt Bike Parts when Honda dont make the parts any more they normally offer an aftermarket part and they quality of these is also very good

Hope that helps

It's very good for its age,but photo's do flatter a little!-for example, most of the paintwork has actually been repainted over,so will be stripping down to bare frame and respraying to near as original colour as poss.

Thought I'd show a picture of the work in progress and the finished bike I've had on the road a couple of months now.

The paint job is one of the two colours the bikes were sold in the UK with.I've got a second bike I bought for spares to help finish the blue bike, which I'm now gathering parts to hopefully put that on the road also.

Thanks Munro. It does hold up pretty well to closer inspection, although probably would'nt take it into a show ring, as some entusiasts take it more seriously than me. Examples might be particular choice of a nut and bolt or a painted item which should have been zinc plated etc. etc. Rides pretty well though, just as an old school high revving Honda was meant to!

Cheers for that . Due to the bits I've accumalated, I'm putting a second one together (must have forgotton about the hastle that went with the first 'bike rebuild). This one is candy plum red with silver mudguards and headlamp. Got to say, the colour scheme is putting the blue 'bike more than a little in the shade !

I'll take a couple of photo's this week (it is still at the bare frame stage)

Once again I'm finding the niggles that surface when trying to get the correct parts for the m/c. Never mind, I'm not working with the same time frame as i was with my blue bike. Still like to have it on the road for spring
