If your car is outside of warranty, it may be worth asking a local Vauxhall specialist (not main dealer) as they may be more familiar with the problem. I assume the engine is the same common rail used in 1.7 CDTi Astras.

Hi guys,
Just typed in 'Honda Civic Turbo Problems' into Google and seemed to end up here. Bhavika, you seem to have the same problem as me, I bought a 53 plate Honda Civic CTDI a month ago and have lost power 5 times now. It is very dangerous, the engine management light comes on and the car slows to about 50mph (like a safe mode). If you manage to make it to the hard shoulder and restart the engine, it only allows you to go 10 mph, so you switch off again and the problem vanishes, but the ecu light remains on for two days. I have taken it back to where I bought it, as it still under warranty, a couple of times and they have gone through some checks tests etc. Yesterday was the last straw as it was dangerous and I told them I was losing confidence in the car. They took it straight to a honda main dealer, who thrashed the arse out of it to create the same problem, eventually they made the engine management light come on and the same symptoms occured. They have now admitted that this is a well documented problem and they will replace the turbo for nothing! Hope that this helps! Pompey |

Hello, This is my first post on here.
I had the identical problem with the turbo and the dealer replaced it with little problems even though it was out of the warranty. Its a 52 plate 1.7cdti (great car), and done 220,000 miles, however it has developed a fault nobody seems to be able to identify. When idling it suddenly starts stuttering, spluttering and can on some occassions just cut out. It also happens when driving very slowly so becomes jerky. Has anybody and ideas? Please. |

I had a similar problem on a Vauxhall DTi, the idle valve was blocked. |

CarGiant are legally responsible for all issues with this Civic until three months have elapsed from vehicle delivery. They should also have given you a warranty as well. Personally I would get Car Giant to foot the bill for any work you need. As HondaTech said, Honda should have extended the warranty to cover this turbo issue (if this is what the problem is). Leave the car with them and demand the loan car while they sort this out. |

Apparently the problem I have is with the Bosch sensor on the common rail feul system and honda want a whopping 550 notes for it (as they only do the rail and sensor, not the sensor seperately).
Does anyone know where I can get a sensor from, its bosch 01 12 10 1A 0281 002 487 cheers doug |

Dear Grumpy,
You advised you had a turbo replaced without any hassle even though you were above the 90k miles warranty. Did you contact Honda direct or use a franchise, i have just been refused and wondered if there were any tips you could give |

turbo
I phoned honda in swindon 93,000 times and eventually got someone who apparently was in a meeting and went ballistic, once he saw my side of the situation, I had another call from honda in minutes apologising, and the dealership 15 minutes later with a time and date.
Sorted. Now ive the stutter problem, Im just back from the dealership who had the magic computer on it and still dont know what it is. Any help |
