Hi guys and girls,
I have a 2005 honda civic sport (obv 1.6) and I have just noticed a problem with it.
When sitting idle in the car with the engine running and you try and rev the car it won't go past 4,000 revs. I have also noticed this in the past few days while driving it also won't go past 4,000 revs - but this is only sometimes other times it goes fine.
Just really need help I have been told a few things it may be such as the cold air intake being damp? fuel filter, dirty fuel etc.
Please could anyone suggest what is wrong and if they have had a similar problem!

The car's ecu will not let you rev beyond 4000 rpm when stationary, its to stop you damaging the engine... mines did this also.
Doesn't sound right if you say its not revving over 4k when you're driving, are you letting the engine warm up properly before you try this? i.e. travelled a few miles from cold as some vtec engines would not switch onto vtec until they had reached a suitable temperature.
