Just a quick question guys. How do the covers square up with an MOT test?
I only ask as I thought brake lights not only had to be operational but also unobscured? As nice as the covers are (and I quite fancy a set) by their very nature they do, IMHO, partially obscure the third brake light. Views please... |

You have two other main brake lights which are obligatory. I don't think the 'third' light is part of the test other than, if one is fitted it should be operational.
See here: UKMOT.com MOT Manual 1.3 Brakes lights Hope I read it correctly. I understood 'unobscured' to mean that the brake light is not partially hidden behind part of the car or by something added to the bodywork/bumper to obscure it. Last edited by allan40alt : 2nd May 2008 at 19:46. |

I'm not MOT qualified but as I understand it, its exactly that, providing the light or any light fitted is less than 50% obscured then it should be fine. Whether they consider the mask to be obscuring is another matter.
If I were you, i'd speak with a local MOT testing station and get their opinion. |

The main 'obligatory' brake lights on either side are untouched and as the third brake light comprises 6 LED's grouped in the centre of the light then they must all be behind the main HONDA/CIVIC cut-out.
Looking at a closer picture of mine you can see the light fades in the outside 3rd hole on either side. I would say the actual logo conceals only around 15% or so of the 6 LED's, but, as I said previously, the third brake light is tested to ensure it is operational only (?). |
