Infinity 6510CS speakers
Not entirely sure if I'm allowed to post this in here - please feel free to remove (and accept my apols!) if I shouldn't have
Found this on ebay - 26 (25 now!) sets left of Infinity 6510CS speakers, which I think are the ones used by Pottsy, generationgav and others for their speaker upgrades. Front speakers - replacement with Infinity Ref 6510CS But at a bit of a bargin price - £49.99 + £9.99 postage I have nothing whatsoever to do with these people, I'm not recommending them, or the products, just thought that someone out there might find the link useful http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INFINITY-REFER...QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by TTDegs; 6th October 2006 at 01:06. Reason: added link to the thread installing speakers |

Look here; basically they sound a lot better than the speakers which come in the car. Somebody might be willing to fit them for you; but a car entertainment shop might be your best bet. |

Thank's Gg; I looked at Pottsy's installation and it frightened me off. I know they will be better but looking at pulling the car apart like that....phew!

I thought the same; and finally I did it! As Pottsy said; it really isn't THAT bad....just take your time and be careful with it and it'll be fine.

I am tempted....... what about the crossovers. I have fitted a few speakers and amps into my other cars, but they seemed less of a breakdown of the car. What is the comment re the polarity and a battery on pottsys original post?

RR work to Pottsy's thread and you can't go wrong. The only change I made was to mount the supplied crossovers inside the door panel with heavy duty velcro and to open up the existing tweater mountings slightly to mount the new infinity ones instead of glueing. TT, I bought mine off eBay but paid a little more for them, around £70 inc p&p. |

Wooly,
The objective is to have all speakers in the car connected correctly, so the +ve wires are all connected to the +ve terminals on all speakers (including the rears). The problem is that the outgoing front speakers have no + and - markings, and the wiring is not obvious (ie not red and black, but maybe light brown and dark brown). So you need to discover which terminal on the outgoing speaker was the +ve. Once that's known, then you can connect the wire that used to go to that unmarked terminal to the +ve terminal on the new speaker. When a speaker gets a +ve voltage, the cone moves outwards (that's the definition). So get a small (preferably nearly flat) AA battery and connect a wire from the -ve of the battery to one side of the speaker. Then briefly connect a wire from the +ve of the battery to the other terminal of the speaker. If, on brief connection, the speaker cone travels out, then you have wired +ve to +ve, and have thus identified the +ve terminal. The wire in the car loom that originally connected to that (newly identified) +ve terminal, must now be connected to the +ve on the new speaker (or in fact the +ve on the crossover input in our case). Now all your speakers will be "in phase" and you won't lose bass and hear strange effects. Caution: speakers do not like being connected to DC for any period of time, so if you do this on your new ones, it's best to do it very briefly by "brushing" the wire, and use a weak DC source (small used 1.5v battery). |

Pottsy, It wasn't the polarity thing that confused me, it was the 'rub it in' bit. Still confused over it, not sure what is being rubbed in, whatever it is it isn't softening my thick skin any

The auction TTDEGS quoted has now ended. Don't panic, relisted under the following and 30 available!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MakeTrack=true Does anyone know if these can also replace the rear speakers? If not, does anybody know what model speakers can be used in the rear? Cheers. Last edited by HURMUND; 8th October 2006 at 23:47. |
