i had an Pm from Javorb regarding the visit to pipercross, they only require the car long enough to measure the air box, thats all.

so i presume the current hold up is that without any kind of airbox to measure production can't start.

i'm currently unable to get up their.

What if they where to have just a standard air filter as i persume it will be the same but with a different grade paper in it?

I must say, I'm in 2 minds if a panel filter will make much difference to the economy or performance of the vehicle. Diesels already run with a surplus of air (they burn very lean), so extra air probably isn't required. Also, are you guys aware that the oil from the filter can "migrate", following the flow of air, and collect on the air mass meter (or MAF). Ths can cause a miss reading with air flow into the engine, forcing the car into "limp mode". I'm not trying to be alarmist, just recalling experiece from previous cars on other forums!

If anyone has any experience of using panel filters on Turbo Diesel cars, good or bad, chip in!

This has been well documented on other forums (Briskoda.net for one)
1. It will make a small difference
2. Diesels run more efficiently with more air
3. No known issues of the MAF being adversly affected

i know when i had an MR2 that oiled filters were bad news and that the recommended route was a dry filter from apexi. yet on my other cars we had no problems, k and n filters were the worst for over oiling, but never heard any problems from pipercross. plus alot of the oiling issues were from cone filters not panel filters.

Don't wanna spoil your joy about sport filter on turbo diesel , but after talking with some people who knows much more than many of us about cars,the general opinion is that you won;t gain power or sound, etc, just rising the risk of getting the dirt in our beautiful engines.....I was tempted to buy a filter like that ,but i quit after all that i read....It's all about money!All that propaganda that it's done around this miracle filters , folow just one purpose...to get more money from us! It is just my opinion!

Ive driven thousands of miles with these panel filters.
Never had a problem
At the end of the day its all about choices.
However the facts speak for themselves, from experience, they do have more benefits than to the contrary.

with regards to panel filters, when i was on the roadsters club we had several options for induction, a variety of cone filters, or replacing the current panel filter with a TRD one.

these were all tested on various occasions and even did before and after dyno tests.

the panel filter change showed about 2-3 bhp gain on the mr2.

the cone filters did nothing for BHP but then on a mid engine car it was sucking in the hot air straight from the engine.

all the induction kits saw an improvement in mpg

with the diesel box it should see a small gain.

You are quite correct.
Diesels require dense, cold air and lots of it!!
The more air you can feed it, the better.
