Nighthawk Black.
I expect my finance settlement at the moment will be about £14.5K so looks like i will have to keep the miles down for a few months and pay a bit more off before selling it. |

It's an in-demand colour; trade in and part- ex prices vary so much though and I'm no expert. I found there was a £2000 variance when I sold my Freelander and bought a Type S. I sold it privately at a much lower price than trade-in/part-ex but then got a superb deal for having no part-ex. I saved £500 on the best figure-to-change by selling privately.
Good luck |

Not finding the Civic as good as the Audi A3 i had previously, the mpg seems lower, the driving position is not as good, the seats are less supportive and the whole package of the Civic just doesn't quite have the Audi "gloss" i guess.
Nothing fundamentally wrong with the car, and had i gone from my old MG ZR to the Civic i expect that i would love it to bits. In many ways i prefer the Civic to the Audi (Steering Wheel Controls, The all in servicing package, the design inside and out) but overall i fancy a swap back to the 4 ring grill, looks like i might be keeping the spaceship a little while longer though!! I guess it depends, if i walk into an Audi dealer and say pay off the £14K finance on this and i'll buy a £20K car off you i'm guessing they might just find a way!! We shall see! |

Having come from a line of Audis (A3, A4, TT), I would agree - the Civic, whilst fantastic looking
However, this is becuase the money was simply spent elsewhere - and for me it was spent on bits that matter more Base price of a 2.2 SE Civic - £16,167 Base price of a 2.0 A3 (140bhp) - £17,590 once you start clicking option boxes, the difference gets bigger... A3 2.0 specced to equivalent EX standard - well. I added: Red paint £0 rear parking sensors £260 Front fogs £130 Electric folding mirrors £120 18" wheels £1,700 rear centre armrest £125 climate control (not dual zone) £1,100 Front centre armrest £95 illuminated vanity mirrors £55 multi function steering wheel £320 Xenon (plus) £675 Auto lights / wipers £190 Cruise control £240 Sat Nav £1,100 Mobile phone kit (not bluetooth) £385 total price £24,100 Civic EX £18,467 So for about £6,000 less, I'm personally happy to live with a bit less 'gloss' But I would agree that the A3 is, in general, a nice car to be in |

I came from an A3 to the Civic and I don't regret it at all.
Yes the Audi does have that 'gloss' factor - the first thing everyone says when seeing it is 'nice car' whereas with the Civic, they take a little longer - like they look at it outside, then inside and then decide its a good car, people tend to think the Audi is good by default...which in my opinion is wrong! It wasn't a great car to drive at all, sure it had loads of grip but it wasnt very comfy and had a really harsh ride, more surprising though was that it was really easy to wheelspin - and the Civic is completely the opposite despite identical power output / tyre foot print. One of mates has ordered the 5dr without even looking at it or test driving it - he's purely after the Gloss factor...I wonder what he'll think after a 6 months ownership?! Thats just my opinion though - if thats what you want, go for it... |

In fairness TTDegs, the standard EX doesnt have parking sensors or 18" wheels, so it's actually more like a 4k difference (granted, I wouldnt have the civ without either of those options but they cost a similar amount, maybe 500 quid less)
I'd also chip in that my main alternative to the civ was the A3 but I couldn't find one I loved as much for the same price. Plus the audi was more expensive to insure. I'm pretty happy with my choice |

good point - I shouldn't have ticked the 18" box, should have been 17" - which are £1,025 at cheapest, so that's £700 off the difference.
The '08 EX comes with reverse sensors as standard now - but not sure if the Honda configurator reflects the extra £250 Honda upped the price of the EX by. So we'll call it a round £1000 off the difference still a lot of extra to pay for gloss though But as ever - pays your money, makes your choice I'm sure there are a lot of happy A3 owners out there |
