Regardless of what he might think, as a moderator he has to see that the forum rules are adhered to. And posts about illegal speeds are prohibited.

What speeds I do in my car are not really the issue here.

Simply that forum rules state you can't post about exceeding the speed limit.

i'll exercise my freedom of speech and say xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!

***EDIT TTDegs ***

Unfortunately defrece, in exercising your freedom of speech, you have actually breached one of the other forums rules, this one about personal comments...

I think the forum rules are exactly right. Which is why it is one of the best forums for cars out there.

Seriously???

It's a forum. There are rules. If you don't like them don't use it. You agreed to the rules when you created an account.

Agreed.

I have been to a number of other Civic/Honda forums... In my experience they are all full of idiots. All of the threads are about top speeds and 1/4 mile times and c**p like that.

This is the only place I have come back to - for a very good reason...

Javorb

a few points to consider here:

1) yes, you posted about a top speed - one which was well in excess of the speed limit.
2) yes, FWH removed it (actually just moved, not removed) to the recycle bin. Though quite was FWH's nationality has to do with anything, I'm not sure? Myself, basegreen or Pottsy would all have done exactly the same thing had we been the first to see it.
3) Whether or not FWH believes that the UK speed limit is fair / right / or whatever, is not the point. The point is that you were posting about driving at illegal speeds, and that is against the forum rules which you agreed to abide to when you signed up for this forum. Specifically:

This should stump the fools at the starting gun, with luck.

Obviously this post shouldn't actually be in this section, it should be in "Site suggestions, feedback and rules" (where, by the way, can be found a copy of the rules we all signed up to).

As such, I've moved it.

Javorb, thank you for your post.

We can all have our own opinions, but opinions posted on this forum must comply with the forum rules.

If they do not, some type of action will need to be taken by someone in the moderator group.

For example, this thread: 1.4 quiter than 1.8?
was also recently recycled.

I hope this helps address your concern.

If not, please see comments below for further clarity on the subject.

You also mentioned the top speed at which you have driven your Civic, this comment was in violation of the Forum Rules.

It was edited to comply with Forum Rules and put in the Recycler by a Swede.

The Forum Rules are not.

No, let´s not.
If we did we could not legally enjoy them on a track or German autobahn.

As one who has been the victim of a forum where rules are taken far to literally (and there are far too many), then I have to say this probably one of the more lenient and friendly forums around. If you can't adhere to the few rules this forum has, then welll, tough luck.

We all know everyone occasionally does over the limit, but admitting it on an open forum, is not only against forum rules but also not 'leagally sensible'.

JavorB, I am sorry to see you reaction to the, what I may say, very lenient response from at top class moderator and moderating team. This forum is one of the nicest places to be and I think people want to keep it that way.

We may not always agree with the rules, but there again we don't always agree with country laws but we adhere to them nonetheless.

Whatever our personal opinions about speed etc the forum may not be the place to discuss it and thus Pottsy implemented some general rules to ensure we stayed on the good side of the law - which I think you would agree is a good idea.

I think rather than becoming angry at the adherence to the rules you should simply accept your mistake and move on.

javorb and defrece,

I hope the above posts explain why we have the few rules that we do. They seem to work, and the forum has become a good resource for the car and not a playground.

Thanks to you and to the moderator team for keeping this place pleasant and neat.

It's not a easy job you are doing, but this forum is the only one where I keep spending time. It is not like in other forum (a french one) when you write something not in the line of the forum it is simply removed ...
You can have real debate here and not children fights so thank you
