Why don't you support the site????

There are many forum members who have been posting/using the site for a considerable length of time and they still dont support it by buying a sticker.
Any suggestions on how to make them pay? Or am I being too harsh?
It costs Pottsy a lot of money to keep this Forum running.
On a recent trawl through, many forum members with hundreds of posts are still not supporters.
Please post suggestions for producing more supporters and indeed, if applicable, your reasons for not supporting us.

Suggestions?
Well I am waiting for my salary to arrive

Then again, people don't want to pay for a forum.
But how to make them supporter?
How about a photobook option for supporters?
Or anything in that way?

I agree with Robbo51......but the issue is for "them" to realize that Pottsy spend a lot of time (and probably money) for this site.......and become supporters

Well running a forum costs loads of time.
I know.

I will be a supported as soon I have my Civic.
But then again, a lot of people don't want so pay for something.
Maybe an idea to show the sponsers only to not supporters?
So even if you are logged in show the adds?

There are 3 levels of ads.

1. Not logged in = load of ads everywhere.
2. Normal registered user = small ads at the top and bottom.
3. Supporter = no ads.

I don't mind that people don't contribute, it's their choice. Then again I am hugely grateful to those that have - running the site is not cheap, but it has been made totally bearable by the generosity of our "regulars".

I just like having the Civinfo sticker on the rare occasion I'm spotted.

Never have been in the last 14 months of 'stickerdom' though

There has been a valuable improvement to my SatNav that only came about because of my supporter status though

Just do what warriorpete has done, he's got 5 stickers on his car. Front splitter, windscreen at the top, rear window and one on either side near the wheelarch. Now thats dedication to the cause

its not up to you to say this IMHO, or do you also contribute for all the hungry people in the world?

Why can I not say this?
What have hungry people got to do with it??
Please explain
Aside:
I do send to Oxfam but the money Ive sent to Pottsy is to support this site, not to feed Africa

I do - I give to many charities actually but I am nice and considerate like that which is why I am also a supporter of this forum.

My ethos has always been to provide a good site that encompassed all things Civic, for all people (hence the slightly restrictive forum rules). Initially I thought it could be done for free, but as the site grew then I realised that that wasn't going to be easy.

When some people really kindly wanted to contribute, then I thought that they should be able to do so, and they should get back a good chunk of something extra for their money. Hence the contents of the supporters area, and of course a nice silver sticker.

I think it should be entirely the decision of the member whether or not they contribute - and I have never really pressed the Supporters side of things. Some sites become clubs, with paying only members, and this is not how I think it should be done.

I have made donations in the past to sites (occasionally) and donation-ware software (when it really has helped) and this system works well, especially if the product is good and the donation small - but ultimately it is the decision of the individual and not the site owner or software writer.

This forum is far better than the other civic one I frequented for 5 years. It's worth a few quid to ensure it keeps going the way it is.

I think it's great value and extremely useful and welcoming. But like Pottsy says, it's essentially being run as a free site, so I don't think people should be made to feel guilty or pressurised if they don't want to pay up and join.
