Someone referred to the site from the Parkers web site forum. That is (or was) a great site if you had Renault problems.

I had a very intriguing e-mail that I couldn't resist following-up on. Turned out that someone of 'high standing' on this very site had done some sleuth work () and tracked me down from 2TA via e-bay!

Hi

Followed the link on the Honest John website:
http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/home/index.htm
(Another excellent car site by the way for those that don't already know it - starts the Civ review with " Stunningly gorgeous new Civic " but also quotes this site for several problems albeit generally now resolved in new cars.)

Found it via a Google search but it was about 4 pages in and I'd resorted to some odd combination as searching for 'civic forum' 'civic owners' 'honda civic' etc. hadn't turned up anything worth seeing. You need to sort your meta-tags so that search engines pick you up more easily.

If only it were that easy!

Getting up the google ladder is very very hard. Meta tags have not been used for a few years now!

Google uses a complicated and secret algorithm, but it's based on Page Rank (PR). To get up the list, you need high PR, and to get that you need quality links (ie links from other high PR pages) that are relevant. Link exchange, duplicate content and link farms can all destroy your PR.

I have focused on certain keywords, (honda civic forum) and have worked hard at the PR, but am still "low". Needs more time, and gradual linking. Every night a sitemap is calculated and issued to Google, and the whole site is optimised by software called vbseo.

If you search for honda civic forum, we should appear near the top of the first page.

You have done well - just googled:
4th place with <honda civic forum>
10th place with <honda civic>

I do not fully understand the term PR - if I post a link to the Danish Road Directorate report on rolling resistance - will that improve civinfos page rank?

I just tried googling and "civinfo" forum came up first with the "civic type R" forum second. Your PR work seems to be paying off.

I have had a few problems accessing civinfo this week. Has the site become too popular like Northern rock ? Has anyone else noticed this ?
