Avatar upload failing

I've searched the forum for an answer to this, but have so far not found one:-

When I try to upload an image to be used as an avatar, it tells me the upload has failed. It's the correct size (100 x 78, 30kb).

The maximum size of your custom image is 125 by 150 (that's for supporters only I understand) pixels or 29.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

On the avatar edit page it states 100 x 100 or 64kb (whichever is smaller)...

I'm going to make it smaller and try that...

Make sure there are no special characters in the filename (so just regular letters).

Problem solved.

A normal registered user is limited to 90 x 90, and/or 19.5 kb.

I've just found out why there was a misunderstanding - I was using the section headed “Edit Profile Picture” (which allows an image size of 100 x 100 or 64kb), when I should have been using “Edit Avatar” (90 x 90).
