Question Suggestion - Diesel tuning section

How about a section for the diesel variants a bit like the type R area?

Whilst there are plenty of sites that offer petrol info, tuning parts etc there not too much for us dervmonkeys

Great site and loads of mega useful info - appreciate the time and effort put into it

I like it- especially with all the headway relic and the others are making into the ECU programming.

Great idea.

There has to be more to tuning the 2.2 than a remap and a brake upgrade!

we asked ages ago and the mods wouldnt have it, i wrote a guide to modding the 2.2 a long while back which is useful especially if people added to it as they learned more. i know im no longer an owner but i did a fair bit in 2yrs

It isn't a sports car though is it. At the end of the day it's still a diesel with a weak clutch and no proper fix for that either apart from a juddery 6puck.

I'd love to 'tune' my 2.2 but the thought of having to put in a juddery 6 puck makes me leave it standard.

Sorry but im missing the point of your post.

What is it your saying? That because the clutch is an issue then we should all forget about tuning the cdti in any capacity?

There's more than enough evidence proving that the new clutch can cope with certain remaps, just look at mine it's running ok with a Celtic stage 2.

Just because its not a sports car it doesn't mean us with them can't enjoy personalising them, but let not have another debate about why we shouldn't tune etc

Full agree there Sixphredd - we should have a central point of reference that doesn't highlight what we can't do to our 2.2's ... but more what we can do, has been done and what we could do!

Being new to ... enhancing my car I have found little snippets of information in several parts of the overall forum. Work by luminaries such as Costel, if brought together through either moving threads or creating links too them isn't majorly difficult and it would be of benefit to everyone who, like me, either didn't want the type R, had budgetary limitations or wanted to try to tune something different instead of the standard 'buy and bolt on' tuning

I think this would be a good idea for a subsection too. Ortho I dont own a drev why cant people try and tune there cars. Been happening in other makes and models for ages. Eg the Vag community.

+1 the weak clutch and not wanting a juddering paddle clutch also holds me back from having a remap.

Yep excellent idea! Make life a bit easier for us derv folk. My car has been tuned with the stage 2 remap by Premier Tuning and the clutch is still going strong. I know the clutch will need replacing sooner or later but the extra power is always useful

the clutch is a problem but you can over come it and if you dont want judder don't the 325 clutches cope with 190hp? and why is a diesel worse than a type R? if someone wanted me to swap mine for a type R i would say no with hesitation the only thing better about a type R is the noise but the diesel sound nice enough with a straight through on. you can make a diesel faster and still do more mpg and the diesel can still be used as a donkey! only my opinion

Well that discounts the engine. The chassis is virtually the same as the type r so mods that work on that, will work on other models. Why repeat a section again?
