9th gen headlight units.

Today I was at honda getting a minor issue sorted which was done quickly even though my local honda dealer was having a blackout and were running on basic generator power which says alot about their customer service.

While I was waiting I saw a 9th gen civic and this one did not have projector headlights and I looked on the honda website and none of them have it.

So which models in the UK have normal reflective headlights or did honda australia screw us over once again?

I assume their are some cause it is not like honda to make reflective housing just for little australia, that would cost them money rather than save them money.

Hi Grayfox.
I have recently purchased an EX GT. and these have the HID headlights as standard. I am pretty certain the EX does as well.

I have the ES and it does not have them. I think it's only the EX GT model what has the HID's

The OP is correct, at least in Europe, HID on EX GT only... What does running on a gen set during a blackout tell you about customer service?

So only models with HIDs come with the projector housings.

Shame, they make the car look nicer overall.

Only things I hate about it are
Hand brake is on left(next to passenger) which will make hill starts more annoying.
Gray nose
The sticking out tail lights
The VTI-L is automatic only
Sharkfin is not color coded(saw it on a deep sapphire showroom car(VTI-S grade by the looks))

Nick.
Have just had a look through the PDF file that Bob posted, and noticed the HID lights are only available with the EX GT. Thanks.
Also noticed under the lights section an entry about "interior blue ambient lighting (front)"
Does that refer to that tiny little blue light that is in the roof and (shines) down over the gear stick?
Cannot see anything else!

Hi grayfox,

I have recently purchased a white vti-s and the sharkfin is colour coded. As to why we didnt get HID, honda australia probably decided an exgt spec car would be too expensive for the small car segment. By the way, vti-s is equivalent to SE model and vti-l is equivalent to ES model but without the Navigation unit. Apparently, the diesel civic hatch is possibly coming in late 2013.

Hill starts wont be an issue as hill start assist is on the civic hatches. Manual models overseas get the engine auto stop feature which we miss out on. Also, you get used to the handbrake positioning. Someone correct me if i wrong but lhd models have the handbrake on the right (so it cant be a cost cutting measure).

I heard about that as well in the Honda car mag they sent me.

The shark fin was black on the sapphire blue VTI-S model, so we do not get GPS in either?

why does australia get screwed and HIDs are not that expensive or they could offer them as an optional extra heck if they did that with the 8th gen i would have gotten it.

Honda australia needs to think, make it cheaper so you get no profits or offer them as extras this is why they are losing to VW, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota in the small car market.

They spend so much importing it that we get basic things.

I think the australian SI is like an LX or somthing compared to the UK.

If i remember right, they think that it is so that the passenger can pull it in an emergency(stupidest idea ever, it gets pulled wheels lock you smash into a tree and die or you smash into a group of kids, or what if your 10 year old pulls it for giggles you crash)
The driver should have it on their side because they have to be in control of the car at all times.

Many manufacturers have the handbrake on the passenger side and have done for years, dont really see the issue myself.

Forget the handbrake being on the other side, it really is not an issue...

Blue Ambient Lighting is in the front door cards / door pockets on the EX GT.
