Well - in final answer to the above question - can you fit the type-r gear stick into any other civic?? - YES you can, I managed to fit one to my Type-S today!!

I managed to find a guy selling parts from a scrapped type-r (someone obviously over did it in the first weeks!!)

Picked up all the parts for the gear knob and the full lower centre console (so the pocket matches the gear surround) for just £50!! (a little better than the nearly £300 from the stealer!!)

Anyway having followed Pottsy's "How To Get into your Dash" steps a few bits of additional tinkering and here are the results!!

So if I buy the type 'r' parts will it fit?

Pack of 3 tapping screws (93913-24220) - £0.39

Which is a whopping - £256.86

Thats the full list of the parts that are different from a Type-S or 5 door. The parts i got from the scrap yard are

I also got the centre console (so the cubby hole door matched the gear suround) but that would be optional!! Since now the steering wheel and the door trims are a lighter silver anyway! Where do you stop??

Will post up some instructions and step by steps if anyone wants me to?

I've just asked a couple of people for some prices for the knob, gaitor and surround, so surely I should just be able to swap them over??? Right????? (fingers crossed.......).

I've gone through a few different shift knobs on my Si, and my favorite so far has been the Mugen "Formula" knob. I highly recomend it.
