Lightbulb Staining Grey Type-S Trim

Might be a silly question, but has anyone seen any examples of the grey trim on a Type-S being stained / painted a darker grey/black?

I'm sure there are temporary solutions but ideally, I'd like to see if there is anything permanent that can be done to match it up to the black trim on the mirrors and window surrounds.

In an ideal world, yes I should get the car colour coded but I think this would actually make the car much more attractive, on a budget.

To clarify, this is something I would like to avoid doing every few weeks so rather than masking the greyness, I would like a permanent solution.

Whilst I've not had any personal use, there seems to be positive feedback for the product!

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit

Back to Black vs Forever Black - Auto Geek Online Auto Detailing Forum

However, from the reviews and the official site (Forever Black Car Care Products) it seems to be more of a restorer than an actual dye.

Yeah, you'll probably find they are all something similar anyway.

I got most of my trim done today, ran out of stuff as I've been playing around with it to find the best way of applying it

I must say it does look awesome, was pretty easy doing the sills and arches, was a bit more tricky doing the front and rear splitters with all the curves and small sections in them.

I'll post a few pics tomorrow and you can see what you think.

Here's a pic of the sill done, just to give you an idea of how it looks. You can see the difference it makes compared to the wheel arch.

I'll get some better pics up tomorrow.

Yeah just one coat, and when you apply something on top like Back to Black, it deepens the colour even more.

Best way of applying it, is to use a new paint brush, if you can find one that has very soft bristles as the product is very thin, an old brush or one with hard bristles can leave brush marks.

The good thing about this stuff is that if your not happy with the finish you can just wipe it off with some white spirit and re-do it.

Yeah me too lol I'ts not going to "do what it says on the tin" though as regards soaking into the plastic, as plastic isn't porous, but it does seem to take pretty well, I washed the sill with the power washer and it stayed on, so that's good lol.....only time will tell.

That is amazing gers, basically looks colour coded, yup!

I did order some "Forever Black" but if it isn't as black as that, I will cry and end up ordering your stuff.

What have you applied over it to shine? Anything?

Thanks mate, I like it. I would be surprised if the stuff you ordered was much different.

I just used some Turtle Wax black in a flash on top, the dye leaves the trim like a satin finish, so this or any similar product will deepen the colour and give a nice sheen to it.

That's got to be a much better alternative to colour coding for those with black civics. Even if you have to re-apply it once every 6 months, look at the saving!
