Is it illegal to tint front windows?

Hey guys, thinking of getting my windows tinted next week, but am a bit confused with thr legality of tinting front windows, some places say you can as long as it lets 70% light transmission through, others say its totally illegal to tint front windows?

Also, would there be any special instructions to give to the tinter regarding the back lower window?

Cheers Guys

the plexi glass will need to be done with a dot matrix style film, mine has been on for 3 years now and still going strong.
I wouldn't get the front tinted at all, I believe they are already at the legal limit but could be wrong.

I will post some pics of the plexi if needed

The fronts have to allow 70% of light through, I know the FN2 comes at this level of tint from the factory.

Cheers for the advice fellas, glad I asked now as was just going to ask them to put 25% on fronts which could have landed me in trouble lol

I have 55% on my fronts and so far have never had any bother and that included traffic cops parked next to me having a conversation.

Not worth the risk IMO, tint the rears back but not the fronts.

would the effect be like wearing sun glasses at night? I drive on a lot of un lightened roads, down in rural Cornwall. We some times get cows wandering about in the middle of the night. But I think it is about 70%

Windscreen needs to let 75% of light through, front side windows has to let 70% through.

Personally I wouldn't get the windscreen tinted at all for the above reason but each to their own.

My door windows are tinted to 43% and have had no issues over past 3 years, maybe the police think because I'm an old git they leave me in peace
Rears are tinted 100% Limo, need to get the bottom half done by some means.

I have 50 on my fronts and never had an issue.
But then my car is also sign written with my company. Lol

Someone mentioned the front windscreen I wouldn't go anywhere near that with film and a heat gun as its laminated

70% on the fronts is correct

And most glass is already tinted by 20% so by law you can only add a 10% tint. Lol

Mines done 80% rear and 50% fronts and i've had no problems but then my brothers is done the same and he was made to peel them off but i think he was giving the copper some lip so that could be the main reason.
