I've looked at this before Rich, never been but I've heard its good for beginners.

I'm hoping to do Croft with HOT in July but depending on dates I'd be up for this.

Man Up! lol

York will be a good place to start, like you say its got a good run off. I've asked over at HOT about Croft and beginners and everyone seems to think it'll be fine, but the general consensus is to go for the training on your first lap.

Run offs are irrelevant because they say if you lose control (i.e oversteer) you are asked to stop driving right away.

I've looked into insurance, not had any prices yet though.

Found this on the Teesside Autodrome website:

"As a guide, their cover works like this: Premuims are approximately 1% of the value insured - the exact premium being dependant on the driver's experience, the venue, the car, etc. There is a minimum premium of £73 which overrides the 1% rule. Damage excess is approximately 10% of the value insured."

2nd weekend in April sounds good to me.

O.K. that's a chunk of cash for the day then.........................

Dare I say it.......... Would you leave in the 'lap of the Gods' i.e. therefore
no track day insurance to keep cost down....em not sure.

Oh found this .........

I'm only about an hour from Elvington, so dates are no problem. Would be somewhat nervous about a track day but am keen to take my FN2 over a ton.

Elvington is a nice circuit, have been on it a few times.
It's hard on the tyres though as it has a very abrasive surface.

A great day out, wet or dry. Prefer the wet as the tyres last longer!

Would you go again?

How much did you pay? and did you get insurance?

Cheers.

My GTI is currently off the road, otherwise I would be up for it.
£129 is the going rate with 'Track Days' who I have booked with a few times. See lots of tasty cars, last time out there was a Ariel Atom, Radical, Skyline, quite a few Porsches, TVR's, Caterhams, plenty of hot hatches.

Never have bothered with track insurance, drivers are pretty good at giving way to faster machinery, except I've found with the odd 911 driver who won't move off line.

If you go ensure that your tyres have lots of tread. (I get through a set of tyres on 3 track days) Also put another 7 PSI in them, you will get maximum grip out of them then.
Oh and take a stop watch to record lap times!
