I agree with the approx. £200 on resale premium for leather but, done tastefully, it makes the car that much more desirable and therefore easier to sell on - that COULD add another £200 at least to haggle for. More to the point is the pleasure it gives while in your tenure.

Allan has six hours to kill in Rotherham - sounds like a bit of a life sentence!

Suggestions :-
Library - plenty of upholstery reference books to read up on - followed by a matinee performance at the cinema - perhaps 'Car Wars' ?

If you are going to Rotherham I would suggest getting a lift into the town centre and then getting a bus to Meadowhall, its a big shopping centre just outside Sheffield, maybe 10 - 15 minutes on the bus, you could happily pass a few hours there.

Hi allan, plenty to do at Meadowhall and it's under cover so it doesn't matter if the weather's lousy. The link below gives you all the information. You should be able to pick up the matching handbag for your wife!

Yes Jazz, I've discounted that now. Best to stay reserved because of affecting resale value. Must say though if I go for all Black it's £1200 compared to £800 on a new Civic from the factory. Don't mind paying extra for something a bit unique (like the Black with Dark Red centres) but have to wonder whether it's money well spent if it's a disappointing result!

I'll wait for the samples and piccies now.

I understand your predicament.

It would make your decision alot easier if they have the website like the honda website where you build your own and decide which you like best. Obviously you still need to see sample swatches...

Hey allan!

I'd have to disagree about the embossed 'H' logo. I think it could look smart and is something that I think the younger generation would like more. It gives the car a more type-r-esque feel to it.

But I suppose each to their own!

However with regard to resale value, I'd have to agree with everyone that it won't add to the resale value. At the end of the day, no modifications actually add to the value of a car. BUT, what they do do is make the car a lot more saleable. I mean, what would you rather buy, a car with bog standard leather seats, sound system and spec or (for the same price) a car with unique leather seats, a decent sound system etc.

I know which one I'd go for!

Hi allan,

We were at the Audi dealership yesterday looking at A3s. The S line model with full leather seats has "S line" embossed into the leather and it looked really smart. Perhaps an "H" embossed into the leather wouldn't look so bad after all.

However, if you type "leather car seats" into google images, you may get some more ideas on colour etc. If you type "Honda leather seats" there's a link to a company in Canada who have various pictures of leather seats for each Honda model. They have "Civic" embossed into the leather.

Can understand your dilemma though about paying more for something the dealer could do more cheaply with heated seats. Think it'll be easier to decide once you receive the brochure and samples.

Hi Jobo, thank's for that; I've just been talking with my son (Black Astra Coupe - no taste some people!) and he thought the 'H' logo would look good (...well, maybe just a little taste...). I also think it would look good (and unique, without going OTT), but only if I go for all Black; which is probably what I will do, with Silver stitching. I've been searching 'Google' this morning and seen several but as mine is NHB and the interior is Black and Silver I think that introducing a colour will be wrong. It would be good if I had a Milano Red or one of the Blues, then I could match the seat centres to the car colour (like Bassa).

It's looking like Black with Matrix Perforated centres and door panels; armrests (inc door a/rests) in Black, all with Silver stitching and the 'H' logo embossed in the centre of the top back panel of the front seats.

Ooh; wish they'd hurry up with those samples .

ps: Is 'The Best Thing To Do In Rotherham On A Rainy Day' really to get on a bus and head for Sheffield asap?

Hi allan, think all black with the "H" logo will be fine now that I've seen similar on the Audi seats.

I would definitely head for Meadowhall, plenty of shops, places to eat etc. I've never been to Rotherham so can't really comment on if you could happily spend a full day there......

Mu husband asks are you sure the company can do the whole job in one day? He thinks it's a big job.

6 hours they said. They get all the seats etc made up from Honda templates and I get there early morning and leave them to it. I don't know if they have a waiting area where you can watch some of the work, but I'll find out. I'll take my Handbooks in with me and swot up!!

Just spoken to TL and they usually keep a set or two of Black leather with Perforated centres and Silver stitching in stock so they could do it for me in 7 days time.

They've just done one for a dealer and incorporated the 'H' logo in the front seats and they said it looks really good.

Bus stop is directly outside their premises and it's 5 mins to Meadowhall and they run every 8 mins.

My better half is at the Gym at the moment so, as it's now a day's shopping trip , she will want to come as well.

ps: Just spoke to TL and the logo is embroidered in Silver, I thought it was embossed. Won't bother with that bit now. So it's not very exciting I'm afraid. Just Black with Silver stitching!

That's brilliant news, allan . Just remember to leave your credit card at home - it's amazing how expensive these shopping trips can become!

Well, I just had to do it!!! I couldn't pay all that money for something that looks 'standard'. I've ordered them with the Honda 'H' logo embroidered in Silver in the top panel of the front seats. It will take about 10 days, but worth waiting for I think as it makes it a bit unique.

Total cost including fitting, logo and VAT is £1022.00 .

Shopping trip is still on as my wife June wasn't to keen on the logo idea!

Everything is still set for Thursday .

What did it was going onto the TL website and looking at a larger picture of the leather Civic seats which look well, just perfect! I tried to convince her and held up a small Honda 'H' logo (the one on the bottom left of the front cover of the Honda brochure) and it seemed to spoil them. Embossed, fine; but embroidered; no!

Total cost is now £981-13 (that's for seats, door panels, fitting and incl vat)

So, if any Civic spotters are up the M1 or around Wortley Road, Rotherham, you may just catch a glimpse of my NHB.

I didn't realise that they have a factory in JB, M'sia. Maybe my sis could get it for my car **chuckles**

The embroided ones looks more exquisite, more expensive looking and way better than the embossed one. ** I hope June is reading this

The embroided logo on the website looks good...

Hi Jazz, I agree the 'type S' logo looks great, but just the 'H' logo? Anyway, don't start me off again...
