Leather Interior Retro-fit
We've had a couple of threads going via other Topics ('Introduce Yourself-Civic Duty' and 'Gallery-Adding to the Blueish Silver' by Bassa. His interior turned out really well and looks superb; but I wondered whether anyone else has had had it done.
I've been in contact with http://transformleather.co.uk/honda/civic_2006.php# and I am debating whether to proceed as the salesman at the Honda dealers says that as it's an after fit it won't be worth anything when the time comes to PX it in a couple of years, or so. Has anyone had experience of PX-ing a retro-fit interior? Cost will be around £1200, so it's not something to waste money on (cars lose enough as it is!). Also; colours? Would all Black look better than, say, Black with Dark Red centres? Bassa's is two colours and it looks great as the seat centres and door panels have been matched to his exterior colour.Any thoughts? Last edited by allan40alt : 20th September 2006 at 10:09. |

I think you have to decide whether £1200 is too much for you to spend to sit on lovely cowskin seats for the next couple of years. If the dealer reckons it won't add anything, take it somewhere else to PX it, they never need to know. I would imagine any car with leather will command a slightly better price than one without.
I guess the thing with the PX is that the colours are your taste, not necessarily that of someone buying it, you go down the garish route and the dealer might struggle to offload it, the same as car paint colour I guess. I might have been tempted if it was a little less and the car was mine. |

Yes, you're echoing my thoughts as I was typing the thread rr. I guess the Black/Dark Red route would not be garish and would make it unique.
Is anyone out there that could have a go with their 'Paintshop'? ![]() |

I suppose you want a leather effect as well, not just coloured velour effect. Not volunteering, don't have PS, my photo software is not good enough I fear.

Allan,
The styles/gallery part sections aren't that helpful really. Perhaps it's worth asking if the company has some actual photos from customers' cars after fitting (not necessarily Honda vehicles, but just to give an idea of how colours look together). Black with grey inserts does sound nice, but in practice I'm not sure if the difference in contrast would be too much. That's the rub really, as if you're paying so much, you want to make sure you'll be over the moon with the final result. Once it's job done though, make sure you post some piccies please!! That way, I can convince Mrs JayT43 to smash our piggy bank open!! ![]() |

Think I'll do that jayt, afterall photos of seats are photos of seats, won't matter what car they're from. My wife's 206 has black leather with dark grey centres and it looks quite good, but the centres are suede. TL don't do suede.

They should be able to send them by e-mail after scanning them I think. Usually, for really nice jobs these companies always take a photo or two. And, bearing in mind how much you'll be paying, I don't think it's too much to ask!!

No, only full seats or full seats and door panels.
Yes, Jobo, that's what I was thinking. Don't want to go too different because of resale value. Last edited by allan40alt : 22nd September 2006 at 18:03. |

Jobo, price is approx £1000 for seats & centre armrests or approx £1200 for door panels and seats etc.
Jazz, I thought about going for Black leather for seats with centres in Black with Matrix Perforations arm rests in Black leather but door panels with the Matrix design all with contrasting Silver stitching. Considering having the Honda 'H' logo embossed into the front seats just under the head rests in the top centre section of the back Whole fitting takes about 6 hours so I could drive up in the morning and back to Rugby later in the afternoon. ![]() ps: what is there to do for 6 hours in Rotherham, any suggestions? pps: They're on the Wortley Road and I won't have a car! Pleased you are going for it Allan, I'm sure you will be chuffed to bits with the results.
As for the sales guy saying it will not add to any reasale value is utter nonsense - providing you stick with something tasteful colourwise and avoid the motifs - sorry. Also my advice would be to steer clear of the ruched type leather which is best suited to the larger luxury motors. My choice for NHB would be Black bolsters, arm/head rests & door cards with perforated facings in a maroon type red. Contrast stitching in silver. Purely subjective, after all it is down to personal choice. Looking forward to seeing pics of your results posted. |

The option of leather will add some value to the resale value of your car but you will be lucky to recoup £150-£200 on something like a civic, sorry but thats the hard facts. If you want it done go for it, so long as you can justify the cost.

Thank's guys, thought I would stick to the same style that you have Bassa, and I'll forget the motif.
Colour choice seems to be all Black or Black with Dark Red centres (centres in the Matrix Perforation design). I've been in touch with TL and requested sample swatches and a brochure/photos of seats (they may even send me a photo of yours' Bassa I think you're right about the px price, Brian. But it will only be the same had I been able to get leather when I originally ordered as that would have been the same cost except I would have had them heated (never ever used seat heaters on my previous cars) and the glass roof. If I take much longer by the time they're ready for fitting Ill be ordering my next Civic! |
