Question Leather Seats

Having read the threads here, I would like to get my car 'done' but Transform is a loooooooooooong way from Bournemouth. Also I sent them emails (one a week ago and one yesterday) from my 'home' email but not received a reply.

Does anyone know of any / can recommend companies nearer the south coast? I would like to do my new EX when I get it, I would have had leather seats as an option but didnt want a glass roof. Have tried google but was not very successful..

Thanks

Your local dealer will remove your seats, door cards and middle storage box lid for Transform to collect. They refit them a couple of days later.

Phone Transform and they will advise you.

Good luck. Al.

PS: Mine still look (and smell) as good as new. They do an excellent job. Well worth the journey and you'll have a lovely day out.

PPS: TL gave us a cup of coffee and then dropped us at the Meadowhall Shopping Centre. Excellent Centre with some good restaurants. Had a great day then they rang me to say they would pick us up at the drop off point. When we got back we had a coffee whilst they finished. The journey back was magic in new leather covered seats.

Thanks for the reply.

I think I'll have a chat with my dealer and transform an see what I can arrange. I am going up to Clay Cross (near Chesterfield) at beginning of May over the bank hol, but not sure if I'll have my car - should be delivered 28/4 but you never know until the dealer rings to say its in.

Well, I'm going to do this in my new car , prob ocean blue, just waiting for the swatches to arrive to confirm that's the colour I want. Transform have said they would prefer to do an onsite fit at my dealers, date to be confirmed. Prob 2-3 weeks - gonna drag!!

Will post pictures for the gallery when all done.

Seems to me that along with making a fantastic job, Transform Leather also offer a great service.

There was an 08 Civic in the company car park last week which had been leathered.

It looked superb, it really made the inside look classy compared to my cloth.

Because it didn't have the normal glass roof that seems to come with the leather option do I assume that this would have been a dealer fit ?

How did you get the quote? I keep asking for one and get no response. Was that for everything (doors, etc).

Like you, I'm on the South Coast (Worthing) so would like an easier option, shame there isn't a way to get the covers and fit them locally.

Or is there?

Hello AOWAC

I sent transform an email, didn't get a reply, so sent another and mentioned civinfo, and, may be coincidence, but I then got a reply.

They quoted me £835 + VAT and I assume that is for all seats, door cards and centre consol. I had mentioned all this in a mail when I said I wanted it done and wasn't told otherwise. Did have a bit of a delay as I had to wait for my new EX but now I have just paid a £400 deposit, required for transform to order the leather in, which will be about 10 days. They plan on fitting week beginning 9th June and will be doing it at my dealers.

Transform also sent me swatches for the colours at my request. I found this better than the colours on the website. I have chosen sky blue which is actually quite a dark blue (reminds me of thunderclouds) with double stitching in ocean blue.

I will post pictures up when it's done.

You may find it quicker to ring Steve at transform - the number is
01709 857160 or 07967973935

Hmmm. Aowac, nice name…err, I think. It should be Aogac but Pottsy won't let me change it.

So what's happening to your old seat covers? I'd happily drive to Bournemouth to pick them up.

I need all seat bottoms recovered, the driver's backrest and as many others as possible. The previous owner was a complete Philistine and put cigarette marks on all of them. Even got a headrest back as well and ran the tyres grossly over and under-inflated.

But I'm also interested in your leather experience. When you say "doing it at my dealers" is that for real and they do it at Honda or do the seats get carted off to Transform HQ?

If only I had some work to pay for it. Earned nothing in last 6 weeks, waiting for a project to "arrive" which didn't. Don't suppose you need any books designed and set?

Hi again

Don't know what's going to happen to my old seat covers - never thought to ask!!! Now you've put the thought in my head I will make sure they are left with the car - being a brand new car (4 weeks old) there is not a mark on them so I could sell them.

Transform said they prefer a Dealer fitment - ie onsite at my local dealer and asked for, and got, their contact details. Other wise it's a 2-3 day job - removing everything, taking to Rotherham and back again - makes sense to do in 1 day down here, don't lose the car for 3 days!

I don't think the covers come off too well...but the new ones go on beautifully!

I've just remembered that I did have my old covers returned but I can't think what on earth I did with them. I don't think they remove the door card covers though, I think they apply the new ones over them.

I can always get a trimmer to replace the damaged panels in my car. I've talked to a couple who were going to turn my covers upside down to hide the damaged areas but it would have put extra seams in funny places and would have been pretty expensive.

The worst thing is that it is far more expensive to get new covers supplied and fitted by Honda than it is to get leather.

How much have the trimers you've spoken to quoted, bearing in mind it's all money that could go towards getting Transform to fit leather.

To hide the cigarette burns - which have already been 'repaired' but they still look horrible, £300 +VAT.

They quoted £1100 + VAT for leather not including door trims so £800 is much more attractive.
