im a bit gutted that the type s does not come with leather and does not appear to be an option but i could be incorrect in saying that.
But im not to worried. They have priced the Type S at around £600 less that the 5 dr version so i can use that towards getting bespoke leather. Am i making excuses here!!!!! I just think leather makes the car look so much smarter. Will be a long trip for me though to rotherham!!! From Bournemouth. But do i care!!! Another excuse to drive the civic. |

Heated Seats Fitted to Bespoke Leather.
Hi, Allan & Bassa, For supply & fit two heater kits front seats only. £300 inc, vat. Plus Wiring harness, two on off switches round ones. Only one heat setting, two in line 10amp fuses, relays. They strip the seats completely & fit two heated pads too each seat. the pads are secured to the metal frame with plastic tie clips to avoid any electrical shorts, then put seats back together both wiring looms come out under the seats and tie clipped with relays under seat out of sight They still give the full warranty.Thats as far as they go.
While they had the seats out i removed the centre console and put the wiring loom in position, threaded one each side under the carpet and came through floor carpet at side of wires already there leaving enough to slide the seat back and forth then connected the multi plugs to heat pads. I then coiled up the wiring under the console avoiding the hand brake lever etc fittted console left it at that called it a day. I was there for about four hours. |

Heated Seats Fitted to Bespoke Leather.
When fitting the wiring loom under console there are two multi plugs one for each switch with console removed dissconect cig/ lighter, remove four screws and the blanking plate, drill two 20mm holes in the two blanks and clean up with small file press fit the two round switchs refit blanking plate to console. The two black wires fix to a good metal earth still under the console.By the way the switchs do not light up they are rocker type.Cable tie the two fuse holders to existing loom.
If you find there is to much wire hanging about you can push it under the carpet you may have take the four bolts and lift the seats to do this. Next step take the two red wires and join them, >you will need to purchase one metre of red wire same as loom because the loom is not long enough.< Join to the other two and solder. feed wire under side console to present loom secure with cable ties. Then connect the red wire to the yellow on the ignition switch, you can get one of those crimps to join it. you will have to partly remove the steering barnicle to get to the swich three screws. The heaters are then dead untill you swich on ignition. |

The heaters are better than the last two civics i had and they were single heaters.Must admit its nice to feel the differance and you still get the leather smell,so am now ready for winter.

Having had heated leather seats on earlier cars, I must admit that they were hardly ever used. So for me, fine if they came as standard but personally, I would not bother as a retro fit.
Depends on your list of priorities - it's just 'horses for courses'. |

Yes, you've done a really good job there AL, but like Bassa, I've hardly ever used them in all the previous cars I've had over the years. I probably would have had them if it had been available at the time I had the seats covered, providing it was a complete installation with wiring and switches etc. Maybe on my next Civic.

Those look really good, impressed with the finish, it seems like they are almost dealer fit.
Again, like other ppl, would do if i could justify buying the leather seats to go with them! |

You don't have to have leather seats in order to have heated seats, Geoff13th.
All cars in Finland have seat warmers and I think leather isn't even on the options list. So presumably you could fit those in your normal upholstery seats. |

yeah sorry, I was unclear then, I meant that I personally would have to have the leather seats with heaters, just as I find that better, with cloth (or what ever the honda term for it is) I am not to bothered about heating seats. I can guess in colder countries this is different, but i guess it is all personal opinion.
Just think if I get one (e.g. leather seats) may as well go the full way and get both, living the life of luxury. one day i may get them... one day.... |
