civic type R FD2 or EVo 9??

HI, I have a FN2 at the moment great car but want a change got about 20k-23k to spend on next car considering the civic type R FD2 or EVo 9?

What you think??
People say the evo not great for dalily use ....what they mean by that petrol wise?
I use the car daily (mainly short journeys then long journey every once a week)

Having never driven either, I would go for the FD2, but I am just a biased Honda owner!

both are superb cars but the EVO 9 is class of it's own...
you can't compare an FWD vs. AWD ; turbo vs. non-turbo...

hard decision.. I think I would buy the EVO but would be sad not to own an FD2

Agreed the Evo is an outstanding vehicle with only the imprezza in its class, there is no comparison.

Get the Evo for performance (Hardcore) or get the FD2 for Styling and Performance !!

I'd personally go for the Evo 9 (although my personal favourite is still the 8, rather than the nine, and it far outweighs the Scooby in it's understated looks, especially in Black......hmmmmmmmmm). The FD2 is great, but I just like the EVO better..... don't really know why......

Both cars are fantastic, but the big problem that EVO's have is the service interval which I believe is every 4-5000 miles, its extremely hungry appetite for fuel and of course its tyre shredding power working on all 4 wheels. However this is something that you just have to accept when buying this class of car.

There is the benefit that there is more specialist knowledge in the UK (assuming you are from the UK) about the Evo though.

But for me one of the clincher is do you want people to see your car and think - Oh another Evo, nice motor though
OR
Wow, what the **** is that? it looks awesome.
and really turn some heads?

Just a little food for thought, hope it helps.

Cars like evos have a habit of getting stolen or carjacked.

well i have had 2 civic type r's... a scooby and now on the new type r....

you would find the evo an awsome drive due to the 4wd.... just cant beat it for fun factor and performance...scooby is just the same... but..and it is a big but... the negatives for me when owning the scooby were

always worring about it getting nicked... - i had black jax fitted to help + tracker is needed for insurance !

fuel cost for me were a tank every 2 -3 days... i do 60 miles a day min

re-sidual value on evo and scoob isnt that great !

how ever i have to say.. i do enjoy my type r... but 4wd and turbo of an evo and scooby is the best fun you will ever get.... if you can live with the negatives....

hope this helps

the CTR (albeit the EP3 i think) is the second most stolen car in the UK after the BM 3 series - so he will be changing for the better if he gets an evo

Easy, dont buy the civic Type R, you will regret it.
Build quality is appalling, allthough you do get a lot of car for your money. Pity really, Honda should hang their head in shame.....
PS, I have the 2.2 ex, with all the toys, but all the above applies there too.

Nothing wrong with my car mate. Coming up to 25,000 in less than a year and it been faultless. I know people always have problems but if you are going to make a sweeping statement like that I am going to have to defend my car.

Also if you read what he has written he already has a Type-R (FN2) but is looking at the 4 door saloon version imported from Japan (FD2).

Anyway, for pure adrenalin filled driving pleasure, the Evo wins hands down for me but as you guess it will be thirsty and need servicing more regularly than the Civ. Also depends on what you want from the car, the big turbo push or the high revving fun of the v-tec. As always, test drive them both and see which one makes you smile more

I bought a Type R and i don`t regret my choice of car, the build quality is good if not excellent
Just because you were unlucky enough to get a car with poor build quality it doesn't mean the rest of us did

FD2 for the outstanding chassis and engine performance (only 2L aspirated and so much power ) .

I´m a honda man... , have a fn2 and i´m happy with it.

Never driven the FD2, but, i have driven a friends evo IX a few times. I´ve also have driven Impreza, carrera 4, boxer, m3 and some others, the EVO its a worls apart!!!!!

Performance wise, its the best thing i´ve driven.

Not very good interior, but there are plenty of after market stuff to make beter.

If you can aford it , get it!

Fuel wise, i´m sure that, when driven normaly, its very similar to the FD2, but obviously if you use all the horses you´ll pay for it! I still thing its worth it!!

NO Doubt In This World The FD2 Is An Absolute Beauty
Ma Uncle Owns One And Im Tellin You The Day You Sit In A FD2 Is Tha Day You Ant Ever Gonna Look At Anotha Car Again.
I Mean The Evo 9 Is Great And All But With The Turbo It Tends To Lag Whiles On The FD2 Its Str8 Throttle Power So Amazing Drive. The Power You Get Out The 2.0L Engine Is Phenomenal. Im Telling You FD2 is The Car But Then Again Its Really Down To What You Want
'Im Just A Mad Honda Lover HaHa'
Check Ma Album To See Ma Uncle FD2, U'll Love It (Y) Make The Right Choice 'FD2'
