open the boot and look at the ruber feet.....twist them out to make the gap bigger NOT smaller and hey presto....shelf rattle is gone !

Did have a VW Passat once that sounded like a bird chirping at the back.

try taking out the parcel shelf and driving around without it and see if the rattles still there, i had a rattle at the back and it turned out that it was actually the rear seats making the racket and not the shelf. the dealer adjusted the rubber stopper for this.

I have this..I took the parcelshelf out and the rattling stopped!!
So... I wind OUT the rubber things on the boot and it stops rattling??
I'll give it a try.
How can the rubber stopper for the seats be adjusted?

FIXED!!!
I thought it was the parcel shelf or the tailgate.....
It wasnt...
I wrapped some insulation tape around the rear seat catch
HEY PRESTO!!
No more rattles!!
Longer term..I'll mention it at its first service
Now I have the windscreen rattle to fix!!!

Flimsy thing in the boot that goes up and down with the boot lid if the strings are attached.

Clear as mud?
