Excatly - but depending on the issue I don't think you could blame cut off tail pipes unless it was rusting starting there

Just to confirm - just got a e-mail from xopowertuning.co.uk and I had made the suggestion of cutting the tail pipes and they wrote back 'We could do that, why didn't I think of that'.

I have now asked for the full price including this mod and if it will effect the warranty etc.....Happy days

The Exhaust itself will be £699 including VAT and an extra £82 to trim the pipes and fit. If I have it done by them then I don't invalidate a warranty so thats well worth the £82!

Have been assured that the car sounds stock until Vtec - Not sure what diff the sound will be though

I want to know which of the 2 has the loudest growl. That will be the one I am fitting.

I like my car to be noisy when revved up. It's the way a Type R should sound in my opinion

Anyone have the answer?

It sounds just like the Milltek - Its not the HKS exhaust unless they have altered it (like I want to) Sounds sooo much like a Milltek I think it is one!

HKS systems does look good.! in camparison to the standard Zorst, what is the price of a Honda one? anyone know.
I dont think I can justify getting one just yet, may have to wait until the stock one falls off. maybe along time though, only drive 6K miles a year!

And the fact it comes with a 5 year warranty - so if it does fall off in that time I would claim the warranty, sell the replacement and fit another one

i like HKS' idea, i think its great, something different, originally i wanted to have round pipes out the back of my type S, because the rally type civic type rr has this, except i cudnt find tailpipes that would fit sticking out, so i settled for an exhaust system which sat behind the triangles, what i would like to say though is, do you not think circles clash with the cars whole design being based on traingles? just something to flag up. But others like to keep it discreet so that when they go by folk are looking for the big massive exhaust but can't see one and think. Wow! That car sounds good.....without the Chav factor.

Its each to their own but a lot of people have opted for a discreet look.

exhaust response

Totally agree with you on this one Angie, the last thing you want to do is put a second rate exhaust on your car like a chav... i went for discreet, but this hks system might of made me think otherwise, i just wanted the kit last year, and rushed, but i am happy with it either way. i think putting any second rate mods on a civic is such a waste and a shame. barney

no mods available

Yeh, im a young lad and into mods for the civic, and every where i turn im either the first to try something or there is no way it can be done.. it really is infuriating, i find there are barely any mods for the type S because the people who make the mods overlook the S and make them for the R, and then they do not know if they are compatible with the S. the thing is, ive taken a few risks and every single one has gone fine, fitment for type r parts are fine on the type S, - however dont quote me on the exhausts - i had mine custom made last summer, and the type R exhausts are quite a bit different to that of the type S. Anyway, hopefully in time they will start making good mods, and certainly better bodykit parts and bonnets, at the moment manufacturers have created parts that look hideos only to get them out onto the market. As of far ive stuck to well named brands and honda parts. barney
