Update

Eventually my car went into Honda today to get the rear end damage sorted.

It's taken 6 long weeks to get it in, mostly due to the fact that I insisted on my car going into an "Approved Honda Bodyshop" and not the insurers usual bodyshop.

I was told that I would be supplied a hire car by the insurers of a similar car to my Type-R, ie a sports model so no Honda Jazz from the dealer then.Got the hire agreement sent through last week to sign and it was for £223.08 per day.
Of course I was wondering what they would give me, I was thinking VXR, ST perhaps a beemer...... but no I got delivered to the door an Alfa Romeo Brera 2.4 diesel.

Now don't get me wrong it is a cracking looking car and hey it has 210bhp, but I found it dull and uninspiring, the torque when the turbo spooled up gives a decent turn of speed but I didn't think it was any faster than the Type-R and it has no "sense of occasion" unlike the Type-R when in Vtec.
Also was not that economical for a diesel (averaged 29.7 mpg) the same route in the Type-R usually gives 27-28 mpg. Handling wise was no where near as good as the R and gave quite a lot of body roll around the bends.
The only thing I found in the Brera's favour was that it didn't rattle, buzz, chirp or squeak as much as my R.

Overall just a little disappointed in a car that is £28,500 with the options it has fitted..... am I starting to sound like a spoiled b*****d? lets face it I could have ended up with a Corsa, Micra or a Jazz.

Can't wait to get my car back, as they say "Absense makes the heart grow fonder"

Rule #1 - never buy a new alfa with your own money [I've owned 5 btw]

Sorry to hear about you misfortune.

Thing is, even after the repair it doesn't quite feel the same

Worrying thing is, is that's most people's attitudes these days - 'it doesn't matter cos' you've got insurance' but if there was less 'accidents' then insurance premiums wouldn't be so high

Obviously you got whip lash and are suing her for that!! (bit contradictory I know )
