Unhappy Cursed !!!!!!!

Not a good day today !

On the way back from work I was stopped at a roundabout when all of a sudden .... yes you guessed it .... BANG.
A young girl in a Peugeot 206 has rammed the back of the car.

Bumper cracked and broken, parking sensors broken and missing and tailgate dented and misaligned, don't know if anything damaged behind bumper or underneath the car.

But what angered me most was that she was so blase and couldn't really give a damn to quote her words " its only an accident and your insured" ... felt like ripping her head off
It's my first accident of any kind in 20 years of driving so now in the hands of the insurers.

I just feel like the car is jinxed, firstly getting 9 stone chips in the first few hours of having the car, and now getting rear ended when the car is 5 weeks old and less than 600 miles on the clock.

Wonder what will happen next as they say it comes in three's.

Just had to get it off my chest...... anyway I'm away to drown my sorrows in a bottle of wine.

Yet another dented Civic, I'm still sorting mine out so I know how you feel. That sounds quite a bad bump I hope the damage is not too extensive. I reckon we might as well get all the bad luck out of the way as new owners and enjoy the cars once repaired to the full. Sympathies and wishing you better luck and yes the wine's a damned good start to the recovery process!

Yea, but MaTeK you live in poland, there isn't a day that goes by where I don't see and accident. When I was in the Uk I hardly saw any if any at all.

I am sorry to see that your car had an accident but glad to hear that it is fixed now.

Maybe you are right... but on the other hand I still can't imagine myself sitting in a car with the steering wheel on the right side... and the way people drive in UK... it looks dangerous on first look ... amazing

These things are annoying and I am shocked at the girls response too, but maybe she was in shock or something.

I really hope the bottle of wine took the edge of things and you feel a little better now. I hope it gets sorted ASAP too.

Looks like it But the post of pre and post repairs is very encouraging, so a most worthy post in my estimation. Well done, MateK. It shows a ray of sunshine at what must be a very difficult time for dmacg.

Fair enough - the funny thing is that when I watch English films I too think it is strange and think they are driving on the 'wrong' side of the road and I am English.

Driving on the right was strange for me but now it is normal.

According to the new highway code, it wasn't an accident!
Quote:
The word “accident” is to be banned from the new edition of the Highway Code in an attempt to persuade drivers and police that someone is almost always to blame for a death or injury on the roads.
She went into you - wonder who was to blame for that, then?

If it is from behind it is their fault - Nearly always. They have to watch where THEY are going and keep a safe distance. Guaranteed 100% her fault.

I had so much paint work done to my previous car (Peugeot 306), I had a lot of bad luck with it. I had the same rear panel dented in a car park twice in 6 months. Then somebody keyed the bonnet, and then I hit a fox at 60 mph and wrecked the front bumper!

Same in Poland. In some cases when let's say car is moving backwards and will hit a car behind in the front the driver from the first car may try to convince insurance company that he was hit from behind. The problem is because police does not have to be there when there were no injured. You just write down on a piece of paper that you agree that it was your fault and after that you may always say that you were in deep shock and it's not true . So it is better to always drive with someone who is not related to you anyhow because you have a witness

The Pug was probably a pressie from her Dad and has no respect for vehicles that actually cost somebody sweat and toil !!

Bad luck but don't lose the love for the Honda. It will be fixed and you will love her again.

Had the car down at Honda bodyshop today for them to get an estimate for the repairs.
Needs a whole new tailgate, upper and lower rear bumper sections and parking sensors. Thankfully the floor pan behind the bumper is okay.

Now only got to wait on the repairs being approved then to get the car in to get sorted, which may take a while as I insisted on my car going into the Honda bodyshop and not the insurer's recommended approved repairer, might not get done for 4-5 weeks but hopefully sooner.
My car is still driveable but cant help but think people are looking at the rear end and thinking " he's got parking sensors and has still managed to reverse into something ".

But on a lighter note should get to vtec the car tomorrow as I have now got 623 miles on the clock, by the time I've let the engine warm up I'll have reached the magic 625 mile mark.

Thanks for all the words of support.

Davie
