Angry Exhaust - ***??

This is what I have noticed under the car when chaging wheels for the summer period. Already posted on polish civic forum. It seems that this is not only my problem. I have been at the dealer and they could not believe that pictures came from my car as it has only 14000km (8700m). They will replace the exhaust but I am afraid what will happen after next 8000m. There is 5 years guarantee for that so I feel... let's say safe... but I wonder what impact it will have on the price of the car (already know that the used EP3 price will be probably higher than used FN2).

Has anyone here have the same problem?

Not that I know of. But in all honesty it looks like the metal cast for the exhaust is flawed... maybe you'll have better luck this time round? Just put it up on a ramp every 3 months or crawl underneth to inspect it.

Oh sh*t... So much for Honda statements of a "rust-proof" exhaust then. Presumably your car is a petrol (hotter fumes - on my 2006 diesel no rust on exhaust parts).
Or perhaps they've made a version for the East Europe market (let's hope not).
One way or the other, you got warranty, and it might be a single case

It was manufactured in UK. Some of the owners of FN2 here in Poland that I know have the same problem.

Please check... I am curious.

Checked mine the other day - 3500 miles. It is tarnished from heat in the centre of the silencer, same area where your's is rusty, though the surface of mine is not broken in any way. All good at the minute thankfully.

Please wait till 8700 miles and then check. I got reply from Honda - it's due to normal usage so the part won't be replaced on warranty. I'll try to fight back but I have started to think about MOHR or Miltek exhaust as replacement.

It comes with a what 5 year warranty on the Exhaust, you would think that a car of this age and millage would be covered. I wouldn't call that normal wear and tear!

I guess the warranty can be only claimed when rust perforates the metal

You are indeed correct, warranty can only be claimed if it perforates it. I was talking to Si about this on Monday evening when I was down visiting him and he was saying that even his Miltek has a little rust on the outside but unless it does perforate it then he's not bothered about it.

He has also had to wrap his original exhaust properly (which also had rust on the outside) because failing to do so could cause the exhaust to rust from the inside out and that wouldn't be good.
