How did you run in your Type R?
I have just covered 2500 miles in my R and noticed that the engine oil level is still just below the max line on the dip stick
I was wondering if this was down to the way i run the car in or is this normal? I used the method described in the link below Running in - Civinfo Wiki I had the car in the V-tec band before i was 5 miles from the dealers, with plenty of accelerating and engine breaking for the first 200 miles I was a bit worried about doing damage to the engine, i don't know if it is just the type of engine or is it the way it was run in but i would have to say that my R has one of the most responsive engines i have ever driven This is the first time i have run a car in this way and when i buy another new car i will be using the same method. |

I ran mine in too, as stated in the link you posted.
I've not had to put any oil in yet and I've done about 2200 miles now. |

Did it like the Wiki said, just before I reached the 650 miles I hit i-Vtec twice for the smallest amount of time when I shifted it into the wrong gear. At the same point as yours my oil was just under the max mark and I gave it the smallest of top ups due to going away, it wasn't even worth getting the bottle out! Now done 3600 miles and its still fine

but!.... the dealer said, never mind, just let it run for 10 minutes, and you can let it rpm |

I must admit, I just could not bring myself to nail it from the off so just the occasional burst upto 200 miles.
Regular bursts to about 600 miles and often since then! Now just over 3,500 of various miles. Only using BT Ultimate. Runs like a dream. No oil use at all. 28 mpg average. I love it! |
