Was thinking this would save folk trying to source them as they can be a pain and it may mean we can find out who supplies them the cheapest?
I had a nail in one of my rear tyres, I felt sick as a parrot having to replace it with a new tyre. It cost me £160 for a Bridgestone 18" tyre, I suppose that the 19" will be alot more!

Yokohama tyres are known to contain soft rubber, they are great in the dry but wear too quickly!

Just got 38K on the original bridgestone fronts - replaced with 3mm of tread left. Rears still have 6-7mm remaining.

On my EP3 the most i achieved was just under 20k with rotation. I do hate the subject topic tho, its like asking whats the best MPG you have got from the car, it all seems rather misguided

I knew people who got throught their front tyres in 4k on the EP3, they drove it with venom and enjoyed it, not sure, well i am positive that if you got over 30K from your tyres you purchased the car for the image and not to use it, as that sure limits your acceleration and braking usage.

All that aside the standard 18" potenzas can be sourced for just under £110 + fitting currently and those of you who worry about the 19" price, did you pay for the option for anything other than looks?

I have been on this site for over a year unregistered after basegreen invited me from the original honda talkabout site, these kinds of post used to be unanswered as it bugs me that some people buy a car for all the wrong reasons.

Enough said for now

Its booked in for the 14th to have the FRS done. I have been advised by Stella and Dave from ABP that it give more feeling through the steering wheel and almost illiminates the oversteer you can get, I say almost as you can induce it by going into a corner too quick.

I'm going to have the wheel alignment and camber adjustment done, this will apart from improve the feel through the wheel will also help to minimise the wear on the tyres that you get especially with the Yoko's round the edge.

Question is what is the right reason to buy a car????

I would much rather have a performance company car rather than a diesel mondeo like the next man.

38K was acheived on a set of tyres because I have sat on the motorway for extended periods of time where you get very little tyre wear.

Off the motorway it gets just as much abuse as the next type R. And as an aside fast controlled cornering produces less tyre wear than throwing it in, squealing the tyres and ultimately leaving the corner slower.

As for driving pleasure anyone else out there done 40K in the last 13 months in their Type R would agree that the Type R makes every journey a pleasure weather it be 3 hours on the motorway or a 20 mins B road blast.

Also, for those who do drive there cars more than the standard 10K-12K a year fuel economy is important. To get 33mpg consistently over 40K miles makes a massive difference on the pocket especially when fuel prices are so expensive, and demonstrates what a great engine Honda have produced. Any fool can get 100bhp/litre if you throw enough fuel and air into the mix. To create an engine that creates the power and delivers the economy shows the real development that has been put into the car.

Enough for now.

well, non-honda all do it with a turbo and/or high pressure.
doing it the na way just shows how refined this engine is.

I cant believe this, looking at my front tyres they look like they are on the limit and need replacing. I would nt mind but I've only done 11,500 miles on them, these Bridgestone tyres must have soft rubber or it must be using the VTEC everyday thats doing it. I'm on the motorway 80% of the time!

Tracking? Alignment? Tyre Pressures correct? All these are a factor to the wear on the tread (which I know you know) but it is also advisable to roate the tyres but this can be a bugger

Yes but by rotating the tyres you'll end up replacing all 4 in one go, which will be expensive and round £600.

You missed out Heavy Foot! lol

Well not really - its a front wheel drive so there is more wear on the front, depending on how often you rotate them then it shouldn't mean all 4 at once.

I used to do this on my Mini and I would get 2 years or 20/24k out a set

I'm on 14100 miles now on my originals from new (Bridgestones 18")

On my 1st service the treads were 5mm on the fronts and 6.5mm on the rears.
I was very impressed with that.
