Type R first oil change ?

Hellooooo.

According to my owners manual the first service/oil change is at 20000 KM / 12500 miles...

Is that interval the same all over europe ?
Does the type r really use that little oil ?

I suppose honda know what they are talking about, but your opinion would be nice...
Why check the oil all the time, if i can trust the manual and you guys ....

Feel free to slap me if there is another thread regarding this...

PS. 2800 mileage so far...

First thing first the car has to be serviced every 12500 miles or every year whatever comes first and you should check the oil on a regular basis as per the manual. Its not uncommon for any new car to require a bit of oil top up between services, but if you use the V-tec a lot then you may need to top up more than others......I know I do.

Some folk have gone 1000 miles and had to top up, some 6k before top up all depends on your driving style but you will more than likely have to top up within the year.

Thx Angie.. Offcause you need to check the oil now & then, but some advices and some experience is always nice to hear about.....

My Jazz did not use one drop of oil between services, and my brothers civic 1.8 sport needed an oilchange pretty quick.

Enjoy the weekend...

So oil levet checked... No problems..

But......

1: Whats up all the dust and sand gathering around the "oilhole", thats an anoying detail.

2: you have to push the metalthing down rather hard before you hear a click.. i guess some people just "insert it gently" ( did that came out wrong ) , which can result in incoming dirt.... Both green rubberings has to be inserted.

3:why is it constructed like somekind of spring, which is rather anoying to insert.. Guess thats how it is on a racecar

Hope you understand my english, im not very formillar with the technical expressions

Some dealers advise that you change the oil at 6 months or 6000 miles due to the running in period, but its your choice. In almost 7 months of ownership, I have only done 3662 miles and I've not decided about changing it yet

These engines CAN use little/no oil then use a load for no real reason. Most engines do use a fair bit compared to other cars so keep an eye on it.

The more you rag it, the hotter it gets the more it will use.

U will feel the engine loosing up now..Wait until you hit the 10K mark, the engine sounds much better then. I've done too many miles in such a short time, nearly 12K in 6 months.

In Cyprus our dealer suggest as to change oil at 1500 km. I've changes it once at 1500 and the next oil change was done at 5000 km. The use castol 10w-40 and they charged me 30 euros but they refused to gave me more details about the oil. I suggested as to bring them oil (Mobil 1 0w-40) because I can get it at cost price from my uncle but they sait that manufacturer said as for cyprus is better to change oil every 5000 km instead of 20000 km as the manufacturer's manual.
